https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/08/trail-blazers-waive-didi-louzada.htmlGets the Blazers under the tax threshold and their roster down to 14 guaranteed contracts. August 31 is the last day to use the waive and stretch provision.

Louzada would count as $268,032 (over seven seasons) if the Blazers go that route.
Yay more dead capspace on the books forever. Its probably a good decision but that's annoying.

It's $268K per season. That's 1/6 of a current vet min salary. It will be completely insignificant under the next CBA. Cutting and stretching Didi now 100% makes sense, with the 8/31 deadline. He wasn't worth a roster spot and this gets us under the tax threshold without having to pay someone a future 2nd round pick to take his salary off our books at the trade deadline.

It’s crazy how someone can not make the team and still get paid a house a year to sit on their behind if they wanted to. Good for you young man

This is the correct answer. Didi was always a cap-throw-in in the Pels trade.

Well, buying his jersey was almost as big of waste as buying Sheed's Atlanta Hawks jersey.
Stretching him made a lot of sense. By not paying the tax, the Blazers are eligible to receive a distribution of the tax collected from the tax paying teams. That slice gets thinner with more teams collecting distributions. Thus the typically higher than they should be asking prices to eat contracts for cap space.
Likewise, the Blazers gave him a small run during last year's tank. So they knew what they had in Didi, and it wasn't a roster caliber player.
