Good for him.
As someone else said on another thread... I'm glad my team is not paying him. :D

Well, that will greatly depend on how productive Ant is. If he isn't near CJ's level, I'd happily spend an additional 7 million dollars of the Paul Allen Estate's money to have kept CJ instead Ant.

I wouldnt.. with anf you at least are banking on potential improvement whereas cj is capped out

There's also the potential that Ant isn't as good as CJ and then you've thoroughly wasted the rest of Dame's career. Not like matters which high usage no defense guard is next to Dame. Unless you miraculously add an allstar in the front court this team is gonna be first round and out just.like they mostly were with CJ.

Even if peak CJ ends up being better than peak ANT, the difference will be relatively small, and it's not like we didn't get anything for CJ. We got Josh Hart and Jerami Grant - two pretty good 2-way players. They could end up being our two starting forwards, and if they are, will be the best pair of starting forwards POR has had since Aldridge and Batum.

Trading CJ allowed POR to upgrade their starting 5 and improve their overall team defense. Ever since Aldridge left and Batum was traded, the forward spots have been POR's biggest weakness. Trading CJ, who you admit wasn't a great fit next to Dame, to improve the forward spots was a good move.

Sure, it would have been nice to land an all star forward, but that was never going to happen. You don't get to trade a 6'3" non all star for a 6'9" all star. POR got a 6'8" player who averaged over 20 ppg for the past two seasons and is a plus defender, AND a 6'5" 2-way wing for our 6'3" non all star an I'll take that.

POR will be better this year than last and if Dame is 100% and back to being pre-injury Dame, this could be the best team we've had in several years. At least we won't finish 29th in defensive efficiency - yet again.

100% this. Cronin took it in the --- on the Powell/Covington trade, but two starters and getting out of CJ's contract was a solid series of trades.
