Pretty rough start to the pre-season overall for the Blazers. Looks like if this team is going to be a playoff team at all they will have to improve quite a bit.

Out rebounded pretty badly…THAT’s going to be a recurring theme.

Hart at SF is a mistake for a lot of reasons. I still maintain that the starting backcourt should be Lillard/Hart.

Agreed. With Little as SF.

Having Grant be such a poor rebounder is going to be hard to overcome

This game felt like baby-steps forward, not very impressive to say the least, but I can see what Chauncey is trying to do with the short time he has left before season's start. Tough task: Last year while Dame was sidelined, Chauncey almost individually in games, worked players into a new system that really excited at times, and just looked good for a change. This IMO was because we finally weren't small at the SG, starting Hart most of the time, next to Simons.

This years' challenge for Chauncey is quite different, as we are now trying to go back to starting 2 Small Guards. Not a fan, and it's laughable because we have the exact same problem as in CJ: He's too good to not start. At least that's the general thinking. If just one of Dame or Simons could play 6th Man, we could stand a better chance I think.

Doesn't solve the other obvious glowing concern on the court, which I think is Nurkic and the PF/C rotation overall. Sarr? Ok, he might help but I'm not currently all that impressed with Nurkic so far, and I'm less than excited with the main backups being Watford and Eubanks.

We just always seem to be IMPOSSIBLY SMALL. Love the idea of BKN & Simmons if we could also get 2 FRPs fairly unprotected, because it's likely the best landing spot Dame could ask for, and it would help both teams IMHO. Curry or Patty would likely be added. This type of trade would give Dame the best chance of being paired with that top-5 talent he'd need to win it all.

As for our team... just look :o

Simons / GP2 / Keon
Hart / Sharpe / Curry
Grant / Little / Walker / GB3
Simmons / Winslow / Watford
Nurkic / Eubanks / Sarr

Still a PF/C upgrade away from being the finished product, but we'd have the chips and possibly a FRP or two to make that happen. I want to give Dame every opportunity to make it work, but if by December it still looks similar to the way it does now, I would only hope Cronin has a backup plan that involves trading Dame, and I hope we can get a return at least this good.

That team isnt good - and is going to be so, so expensive after Grant and Hart get paid summer 2023.

If we move off from Dame, its full rebuild. None of this retool nonsense. I want a Utah / OKC type rebuild if the Dame era ends. Its what we need.

And don't forget if we traded Dame we would not have signed Grant most likely...

What a putrid showing against the Kings. If that's the team we're going to see this season, then they are headed for the lottery again.
