Game #23?
Are we in a time warp? I thought that was about 3 weeks ago...

More weird line ups from billups leading to double digit deficits.

Tough to watch that third quarter.

I know things seem a bit doom-and-gloom, and I understand the frustration, but Portland being over .500 at this point of the season is still not what I expected. There is still a lot of season left for Portland to improve.

I don’t see us improving with this coaching staff. Teams scouted us hard and we haven’t been able to adjust or come up with new defensive schemes, and the offense has stagnated again. I can’t picture Jody or Cronin firing Billups with 3 years left on his deal though.

Never underestimate how easy it is to throw a coach under the bus when his salary is probably 5 percent the cost of an 140 million annual dollar roster.

That being said if Chauncey is the guy who starts our rebuild then he deserves some kind of medal whether he can coach or not

My honest opinion is I bet we trade dame before we fire Chauncey. Unless gp is the second coming This roster is looking primed for a draft day blow up about as much as any other nba team. And if that happens Chauncey won't be expected to win all that much anyways

Billups being fired or not might come down to who they think will replace him, Dame was a big fan of the Billups hire. If Dame was more lukewarm on the coach it would likely make Billups more replaceable. Now if Dame has soured on Billups that could make his head coaching gig more in jeopardy.

I also will point out the Blazers are only 4 games out of 1st place, there is still a lot of games left to play. If Billups does get fired I have a feeling it won't come until the off-season at the earliest.

ZERO CHANCE we trade dame and blow it up before firing Billups. There’s talent on this team, and the roster isn’t close to being a finished product. Chauncey just isn’t utilizing the talent we have and several losses have come down to bad coaching decisions late in games.

Maybe if we miss the playoffs he’ll get fired, idk. There’s too much talent offensively and defensively to play this poorly.

Billups aside , i dont think phil jackson could make this team a top contender. Dame as good as he is,is stuck in his ways as most veteran are and simons is a poor copy of him.
so unless we revamp the roster imho we will see more of this up and down all season( i hope not ).

i was looking at the green bay packers and aaron rogers situation last year and thought they shouldve moved on from him and they wouldve gotten a better haul than seattle got for russell wilson.

now dame is much more to the franchise than aaron but i would've sold high as possible and traded simons too( imho he's a chucker )he can win you some games from his shooting but at the expense of the rest of the team( but not as bad as C.J.)

What is going on with Simon's and Grant offensively? And what isnupnwith Sharpe?

Nurkic played stupidly in the second half. Can he just not help himself?

The first 5 minutes of the game sucked, then the Blazers turned it on. That third quarter was hard to watch, then the Blazers turned it on/off in the 4th. They have to be more consistently good, not bad.

Started the season 10-3 and first in the west. We've gone 7-13 since. Obviously we've had a lot of injuries, but something's wrong with the coaching/team chemistry imo. I wouldn't be surprised if the team was starting to quit on Chaucey. Holding the team accountable in public and never taking any responsibility for yourself can't be good for morale. The deadline should be interesting.

I felt the first half was really good in this game. Both teams playing fairly well and the refs didn't over-officiate like they seem to always do these days. For the first time in many games, I thought the players were giving it their all playing selfless and fast. Rotations by Chauncey allowed our players to give it their all until tired, and when the subs came in, there wasn't much of drop in the style of BB we were playing. Fun for a half.

But when the 2nd half came, Denver made some adjustments becoming more physical, and the refs simply seemed to flip a switch, and allow for the same obvious BS that we've been accustomed to seeing. Our team then lost their focus like always, and reverted back to what we'd seen for many games now... Hero-ball. It appeared that Chauncey tightened up the rotations as well in the 2nd half which only made things worse, because the starters looked gassed by the 4th. Our bench should have been the advantage, but by not using them in the 2nd half, we were the one's that wore down, not them. More Dumb BB.

Trade deadline is early February and I don't know if we will do much by then as far as trades, but I do expect some major changes before the start of next season. Maybe the one trade we should start to consider is getting our Tank Commander back. Bring back CJ Elleby!!!

This team had issues before chauncey and if we blow it up i could see them putting up with poor coaching a few years. it depends where the franchise wants to head from here. i’m presuming they’re gonna want to blow it up soon which may change who goes first from what you expect..

In Cronin, I Trust! I still firmly believe all within the Blazers organization want the Dame/Simons pairing to work, and it still may, but it is the finest of needles to thread and it's not looking very promising. Dame is clearly trying very hard to change the way he plays the game under Chauncey, but Dame is a shooting guard in a PGs body. So is Simons for that matter and CJ was too. Chauncey needs a PG, someone who will make the players around him better, and be willing to sacrifice individual accolades if necessary, for the sake of winning. Steve Nash and CP3 are great examples of players that could score 30 points per game fairly easily, but for the sake of winning, would net triple doubles instead. PG's preferred stat lines are far different than that of a SG. High assists with low turnovers FIRST, scoring when needed, but always being an extension of the coach on the floor making the other players better, the priority.

By the way, Are the Pels still in 1st place? I saw that that looser CJ McCollum had 40 / 8 / 9 & 2 the other night and was getting mentioned as a potential All-Star this year. Amazing! Difference there is he has Ingram who's a 6'9 SG next to him and a guy named ZION. My prediction is that Dame will be the single remaining move that "Blows up" this team's roster and puts us in serious playoff contention with the haul we get, but I'm being told that can't happen until the off-season. A trade like Dame for Simmons (a PG in a forwards body) WOULD make us a much better TEAM... for instance.

IMHO, this would be a much better team, and I think Cronin can and might do even better.

PG Simons / GP2 / Keon
SG Hart / Sharpe
SF Grant / Little / GB3
PF Simmons / Walker / ???
C Nurkic / Eubanks / ???

If we can acquire Mark Williams and Oscar Tshiebwe to fill those ???, Rebuild complete!

Dear god stop.

NO is playing well for the most part despite CJ who is posting horrible numbers across the board and only had that 40 point game with Zion and BI out - allowing him to handle the ball with Luka like usage.

Dame is the heart and soul of this team and miles better than our #2. Simons is a glorified Gary Trent JR and is 100% the guy we should move if a big trade comes along.
