Post Trade Deadline Moves

Sorry I'm not the cap guru some of you are but
I'm assuming we have an open roster spot after the GP2 mess so do we have any tax space to pick up a minimum big or buyout to camp on the bench? And if so who are we looking for?
Lets hear some names and roles... aging vet 4/5? or big young scrubs? Maybe Westbrook cause we can always use an undersized score first combo guard with bad defense

Most of the buyout players will end up with they think are contenders

Current Roster:
Lillard / Johnson / Arcidiacono
Simon's/ Sharpe / Thybulle
Reddish / Little / Knox
Grant / Winslow / Walker
Nurkic/ Eubanks / Watford
The Blazers would need to waive Arcidiacono to sign another big. I don't see it happening. I'm kind of thinking the Blazers may quietly tank.

I know exactly who I want to pursue... CJ Elleby! We need to get our TANK commander back. Can we sign him to a 10 day, or a two way? He's on the T-Wolves g-league squad currently I think. He was soo clutch for us last season.

If Detroit lets Nerlens Noel go I really hope we sign him. He'd be a great center to have going forward, especially if he is cheap. We have our Bi-annual exception and enough space under the tax threshold to use it.

I hope they do waive Arcidiacono (and/or Knox). Blazers ought to use that last roster spot as a revolving door to sign guys to 10-day contracts with. Get 3-4 different guys in here and see if you can find a diamond in the rough... Low probability, I know - but still worth the effort.
Also, the tanking really should not be quiet. There are 5-6 VERY intriguing prospects at the top of the draft this year.

Ya, I agree with this path. Try out some youngsters, hope you find the next diamond in the rough.
Would like to try out Samanic.

Gotta admit, I don't know much about the guys they got. I know Thybulle is a defensive player with very limited offense and I know Reddish's name, but not his game. I know nothing about Knox or Arcidiaconna. I assume both are scrubs???

the biggest post deadline moves the Blazers need to make is constantly dodging $hitstorms of exaggeration and deflection out of the Bay

Knox is another lotto reclamation project. Arcidiaconna is a heady end of the bench scrub.

Not sure where to post this but it’s nice to see the national media call out the Vulcans/Cronin on what they’re doing in regards to Dame’s prime.

Can't disagree with that.

Remember much of the roster including Grant are expiring contracts and its possible Portland could
have cap space this summer. There is no guarantee Grant will re-sign with Portland

All reports lately are saying that it would be a surprise if he doesn’t. All signs are pointing to him being a 12:01 signing for Portland. Nothing guaranteed for sure with FAs, but there’s no indication he’s leaving. So don’t count on cap space.

Grant really wanted to be here, I think he is just trying to maximize the contract he gets in the off-season. Now that doesn't mean the Blazers will re-sign him but even if he walks I doubt it opens up much cap space. We currently have 109 million on the books next year if we let Grant walk out the door, and lose every player we have not under contract. I guess we would have about $30 million all together with the counted roster spots that the NBA makes you have when having say 7 or 8 players under contract.
They don't let a team sign some guy then have like 8 players on the roster or something, the NBA ensures that you have at least a minimum contract to offer for at least 12 or 13 roster spots.
At that point we would have the following players under contract:
Lillard $45.64 million
Simons $24.10 million
Nurkic $16.87 million
Sharpe $6.31 million
Little $6.25 million
Nicholson $2.84 million
Johnson $2.80 million
Watford $1.84 million
Beldsoe $1.3 million
Walker $1.72 million
Louzada $0.26 million
Total: $109,963,168
Some of these are probably waived and stretched guys but they count against the cap though.

BRING KEVIN LOVE HOME.
We need to add him to our all pnw squad, along with Eubanks, Grant, Thybulle. Waive one of the scrub centers whose names I can't recall, they never play anyways. Love has publicly said he wants to play for Portland, we have the cap space, he's a Klutch guy and we have the need for a rebounder, just do it.. Portland needs a feel good story like this.

Feel that this late in his career Kevin will ring chase and we for sure dont fit that criteria.
But I would love to have him. Honestly, would prefer a cheap Eubanks / Love rotation at C and somehow turning Nurkic into a forward.
But dont think he comes here.

He's already got a ring, he could do that or he could come home and help Dame make a push for the play offs.
Obviously tanking this year is the smart move but I can't see Dame being ok with that the way he's been playing.

I was never a Kevin Love fan. The guy never wanted to be here so why would the Blazers want him now? Pass!!!

Our hard cap goes away at the fiscal end of season right?
With Simons going down we could quietly tank and up around 7th again with a decent shot in the lottery. Then if the Knicks make the playoffs we’d have somewhere around the 15th-20th pick which we could ask Chi if they’d take to satisfy our protected 1st or just use it as a trade asset to improve now.
As far as a SF goes we’re looking for someone with length, that can switch, spread the floor, and attack the basket a little. As far as the skill sets go it sounds a lot like Grant… I’d like to see us play him more at SF to end the season to see if that’s possible. It’s a lot cheaper and easier to find a PF.
