And he's averaging 40ppg in February. Will he get 40ppg tonight to maintain that average for the entire month?

For the second year in a row, he finished as the 29th best coach in the General Board poll. I'm not sure I'd go that low, but he certainly has not been anything resembling good. The way Golden State is just demolishing Portland in the second half here is pretty disheartening, and Chauncey doesn't seem to have any answers. Some of it is player personnel, but there haven't seemed to be any attempts to try something different to stop the bleeding.

75-40 for Golden State in the second half.

It's always easy to play armchair coach, but I would have at least liked to put Jabari Walker out there for defense, energy, and hustle when Portland was bleeding points to Golden State seemingly every possession.
Oh well, good for the stealth tank.

So here's our remaining schedule.
3/1 vs Pelicans - tossup.
3/3 @ ATL - probably a loss.
3/5 @ Magic - tossup
3/6 @ Pistons - likely win
3/8 @ Boston - loss
3/10 @ Philly - loss
3/12 @ New Orleans - likely loss.
3/14 vs NYK - likely loss.
3/17 vs Celtics - likely loss.
3/19 vs clippers - likely loss.
3/22 @ Utah - tossup.
3/24 vs Chicago - tossup
3/26 vs OKC - going to put this one at a loss considering this year against them so far.
3/27 vs Pelicans - tossup
3/29 vs Kings - loss
3/31 vs Kings again - loss
4/2 @ Wolves - likely loss.
4/4 @ Memphis - loss.
4/6 @ SAS - likely win.
4/8 @ Clippers - loss.
4/9 vs GS - I'm putting loss.
I have us with two games we -should- win over the next five weeks.
And five tossups.
And with likely 14 more losses.
And that's with me considering a healthy roster too. But I think we don't see Nurk for at least a couple more weeks it sounds like and possibly Simons for at least another week.
That's a rough remaining schedule, honestly.
We're 29-32. With my predictions minus the tossups that'd put us at 31-46. Even if we win all five tossups that'd put us at 36-46. I don't think that's enough to get into the play-in and we aren't beating a healthy Nuggets team, I don't think.
I think when we get to the third week of March we have to consider resting people depending on our w/l record. Right now we have a good, good chance to let Chicago, Indiana, Orlando, Lakers and OKC pass us in the standings. Which would put us at fifth worst record overall.
If we're going to tank-tank, this is the year, right? Win you get Wemby. Don't win but get a 2-8 pick.. packaged with Shaedon (who I love and don't want to give up but understand we might have to) plus Simons.. you're looking at something that could maybe start to tickle Philly if they don't make progress.

The General Board is pretty great at grasping the obvious. Chauncey sucks. He got a free pass last year due to the injury to Dame, but this year his ineptitude has caused the Blazers to piss away another year of Dame's career.
This team is clearly underperforming. They had the talent to start the season 10-4, but are 19-28 since. Grant and Hart were the best pair of forwards Dame has played with since Aldridge and Batum (although the team would have been better had Chauncey started Hart at the 2 and brought Simons off the bench). They still have the talent to build a 23-point lead against GSW, but then somehow got outscored by 40 points over the last 26 minutes.
That's just the latest of the ridiculous blown leads Chauncey has piloted this season. Other "highlights" include the blown 25-point lead against the Lakers with POR outscored by 34 points over the final 22 minutes and going scoreless over the final 3 minutes against IND. Those are just a few of the blown 4th quarter leads. It's mind boggling that the team with the best clutch time performer in NBA history, having the best season of his career, can be absolutely incompetent in the 4th quarter.
This should not have been another wasted season, but it is. POR had a stretch where they lost 10 clutch time games in a row, 9 of them against teams with losing records. That was what turned POR's season for the worse. Chauncey should have been fired then. Instead, he will get the excuse that POR was tanking. They weren't then, but thanks to Chauncey's incompetence, they are now.
The worst part is, he will get to use the tanking excuse for the second consecutive season. A great coach (Quin Snyder) was available, but POR decided to roll with Chauncey and we will go into a third season with a clueless head coach. Chauncey was a terrible hire and giving him a 5-year contract was beyond stupid, but this is an organization that doesn't like to admit their mistakes. They would rather piss away Dame's career than fire Chauncey with 3 years left on his contract. What a waste.

I think any coach that can't hit 41 wins with Dame playing at this level deserves to be 29th. The roster isn't great but it isn't 36 wins bad with any other coach but it looks like we are headed just there
