If you can make the shot, if you've shown you can make the shot, it isn't a bad shot. He made an incredible shot over an all-world defender and denied the Thunder the opportunity to put any real defensive scheme into preventing Portland from getting a traditionally 'easier' shot.
It was a great shot, because Dame can make that shot.

Dame also explained why he wasn't trying to get closer, he said he wasn't going to attack the rim and then pray that if he is fouled the refs call it. He was smart because with a tie game like that, he is damn right 9 times out of 10 the refs will swallow their whistle unless it's a blatant foul.
The refs are far more likely to let the game go into OT and then have that decide it then let a borderline foul call send Lillard to the FT line.
