Hmmmm….no. Is Zion talented? No doubt. He probably loves playing basketball. The issue I have is I don’t believe he’s willing to put in the work to live up to his reputation.
Hard pass for me.
Oh yea, let’s not forget he’s played in about 1/3 of the games in his career.

There is no reason to gamble a top 3 pick in a draft with 3 really good players.

This has already been discussed in detail in other threads.
Jonathan Givony basically killed the rumor.

Not without the Pelicans adding a lot of additional value. And by that I mean at least one good young player sn multiple picks.

Re: #3 for Zion??
The thing about Zion is he may be the only possible 1 person acquisition that would make us contenders... If he stays healthy he is freaking dominant. The problem is you put yourself on that carousel and every year you play the "is this the year he stays healthy?" game. Pelican fans always have a chance and are always disappointed with little options to improve their situation.

POR fans are snakebitten with injury prone bigs.
Can’t see a franchise less likely to make that move than POR.

Re: #3 for Zion??
Now that the rumor is dead its more fun to talk about for me. In reality it's too scary.
But in theory, oh my, what fun a Zion and Dame pick and roll would be. We might be the worst defensive team in the history of the league, but gee wiz, they'd be a lot of fun to watch when Zion was healthy. And it would open things up so much for everyone else because the opposing team would be focusing on Dame and Zion all game long and I could see games where Shaedon or Cam Redish or whoever ends up our leading scorer just filling in the cracks cause they would be WIDE open all game long.

I understand everyone’s hesitation, it’s all valid, but I’m a betting man and I would do this all day every day. All the questions are 100% fair, but neither Scoot or Miller can be as dominant as Zion. Only Wemby has that ability in this draft.
So yeah, I’m all in on Zion, porn star girlfriends and all.

I understand your position. This is a swing for the fences kind of move but POR is very careful to avoid
1-big guys with injuries
2- greasiness
Zion has both.

The Blazers have no salary filler to absorb that mammoth deal. Have we had something like Klay's or John Wall's level dead weight contract on the books there would have been a different story. But in the current situation this swap doesn't make much sense honestly.

I'd do it if we had the #4 pick or lower, but not in exchange for a top prospect.

Re: #3 for Zion??
Can they do a deal for Zion with a claus he must play a certain number of games (or whatever criteria) or the Pelicans owe the Blazers additional compensation? For example, if he plays less than 70 games, the Pelicans owe the Blazers an additional 1st round pick, etc.

I would do this all day.
I don't care if Zion only plays 20 games. Those 20 games would be the most exciting blazers games in a long time.
On the off chance he gets motivated and stays healthy for a couple years, the Blazers would be real contenders

I’d intentionally play him 69 games.

I'd throw in a second rounder if we were guaranteed she's be sitting Courtside.

Re: #3 for Zion??
A healthy Zion (and healthy everyone else), just might make us contenders. Dame, Sharpe, Grant, Zion, Nurk looks good on paper. Two top 10 players. And Zion is locked in 4 more years.
Without his injury history, we don't have a chance at him obviously. His career might be derailed by injuries, but Scoot/Miller may end up being mediocre players. We'd probably never end up with the chance of to put together such a good team for awhile.
