2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
Trade rumors are starting to heat up around the league
There has been some very clear differences of opinions so far.
- Do the Blazers trade Ant and keep Brogdon; Do they Trade Brogdon due to injury risk?
- Do they try to dump JG's contract and let the youngins get more mins?
Writers like Dave Deckard have highlighted the value of keeping veterans to teach the youngsters how to practice, prepare, and succeed (relative concept).
I configured the poll so posters could pick multiple options.

Sometimes they live by the jumper, and some times they die by the jumper.

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
Brogdon is the clear favorite to be traded.
I agree in concept, but I REALLY don't think Grant is a guy you want mentoring the youngsters. He's too aloof and lackadaisical.
The same could be said for Ayton.
I think Brogdon is adequate in the mentoring role, but there is just a huge minutes crunch at guard that needs to be addressed.

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
I would easily move Grant, Brogdan and Ayton.
I hate Aytons game man. Nice rebounder, thats about it. A guy whos offensive bread and butter is 3 pump fakes and a 18 foot jump shot is a freaking dinosaur in todays NBA. But no one will take him IMO.

Yep, Blazers are going to be stuck with Ayton until at least the last year of his contract. For his production/fit in the current "out" style of the NBA the Blazers will never find a willing taker for that money.

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
I voted Brogdon only.
I'm sure he wants a decent sized role on a contender or at least a PO team. The Blazers have a glut of guards that need the ball in their hands to be effective. Age and contract-wise, it makes the most sense to keep Scoot, Sharpe, and Ant.
Timelord is going to be here until he can prove that he's healthy, and if he's healthy then he's a huge value contract so no need to move him.
Grant is fine as a switchable SF. I have no problem with him being the vet SFoTF for the next few years as long as he's fine with being on the Blazers.
I'm more concerned about Sharpe's complacency than anything. I don't think he's got the fire, and I don't think he ever will. I still think he'll end up being around a 22/4/3 type player, but IMO he's not going to be the no question player whom you give the ball to in end game situations.
Right now, I don't think the Blazers have identified a sure-thing player to build around.

i plus 1 this all day.
i didnt like the Grant signing or trading for D.A. and i would've thought we would have traded brogden before the season started.
so yeah i would want 1-2-3 good teaching vets to help out showing how to do things.
isnt Grant-D.A.-brogden taking up around 80m cap ?

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
Brogdan to NYK for Fournier + 24 WAS FRP (24' Top-12 / 25' Top-10 / 26' Top-8 / 2 SRP) + BRK 25 SRP
Grant to SAC for Barnes + 28 SAC FRP (28' Top-8 / 29' Top-6 / 30' Top-4 / 2 SRP) + PDX 25 SRP
NYK needs a 6th man after moving IQ + BB would be loved by Thibs IMO. PDX helps w/ the G glut by moving BB for a pick and EC.
SAC is in win-now and pays a future pick to upgrade from Barnes. PDX retains a forward vet w/ good character, is cheaper, is 2 years shorter of contract and would take less shots.

If only Indiana went into win now mode and really wanted Grant.
I'd love to add a Jarace Walker to all the youth in Portland.

Brogdon, Grant, Ayton if we can get a decent return, no need to give them away. I think we are stuck with Williams like someone said above until he proves he is healthy. And like they said I would roll with him again next year.

Hold onto our...shorts?
The Portland Trail Blazers have waived point guard Skylar Mays and forward Ish Wainright, the team announced today.
When news like this breaks, opening up two roster spots with just over a month until the Feb. 8 NBA Trade Deadline, the natural thought process wonders if the team is making room for upcoming moves.

Interesting. I imagine something is up.
Personally I hope we trade Brogdon and Ayton. I'm happy to keep Grant and Simons for the time being.

One would think Skylar has been told to stay around and will be re-signed after the move is made. Perhaps by January 15, when Grant is eligible to be traded we'll see a 2 for 1 trade involving Grant

Grant and Brogdan are the no brainers to me. Brogdan only if you can get something wortwhile for him. Grant I would trade for a ham sandwhich with extra pickles and I hate pickles.

Mays was snatched up by the Lakers. He had some pretty solid numbers when he started - not bad for a 3rd PG.

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
How does the injury to Sharpe affect the trade deadline? Is he coming back before the trade deadline?
I would still move Grant/Brogdon if we could get a decent return but I'm not taking 4 SRP for either
player as some as suggested on the trade board.
Thybulle is likely an expiring contract after the 2025 season and is going to be moved if the team can
get value

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
After the PHX game and getting to see all 3 young forwards play legit minutes I am now in the camp of trading not just Grant and Brogdan, but Thybulle as well.
Jettison this idea of the vets being a bridge. Its a bridge to nowhere. Sell them off ASAP - this team is much more watchable when the kids are out there hustling. We will stink either way.

Re: 2024 Trade Deadline: who is available?
I think we all know the 3 we don't want anymore.
Jerami
Brogdon
Ayton
I add simons with a small caveat: I want this one to be done more tactfully, get 2-3 firsts for him or some assets moving forward or just hold onto him for now.
Jerami I want gone the most due to contract length but he and brogdon are more useful than ayton at least. I suspect someone would take a flyer on ayton if not now then definitely next deadline when he will only have one year left. Obviously in year 3 his 35 mil expiring will be an asset of some sort

Sharpe's injury doesn't effect the trade deadline.
I expect him to be back before anyhow.

I think thybulle could be useful at the 2 moving forward depending on what other moves are made
