Is anyone else disappointed with the Summer League roster? I would have Scoot, Shaedan, and Deni on that roster.

Scoot and Sharpe are both kinda fragile and Deni is kind of a vet these days hahaha at 23? I don't have any problem with the choice.

I'm surprised Scoot isn't playing. Seems like getting a bunch of minutes with lower pressure and against lower competition might be good for him. Sharpe and Deni I would not have expected to be there.

Shaedon is with Canada's olympic team training. I'm not sure why you would want Deni on that roster. There's no point in Scoot being there. He played well to end the year, he was injured in last year's summer league.

I'd just like to see them and Clingan get some time together before training camp.

Demi is going into Y5, no need for him to be there, if he was that would not be good sign.

Sharpe is practicing with a Canadian national team so it makes sense why he wouldn’t be there

Scoot not being there it’s a little odd, although he is in line to be the starting PG next year, and someone mentioned on another board that maybe this is a sign that Simons may indeed be dealt? So they may want to just make sure that he stays healthy, no need to risk an injury in meaningless summer league games.

Getting tickets to the Monday/Tuesday game days! Always been on my bucket list to go to Vegas for summer league, and with motels in walking distance and $60 for 8 games a day of all the top draft picks including Donovan seems superb.

When you guys see a proud and loud 30+ year Blazer fan cheering em loud those days, it’s gonna be your boy.

I'm ok with this for the above reasons. Deni plays like a vet and is well beyond Summer League.

Shaedon and Scoot have been injured in summer league before - it's not worth the risk.

I don't think it's that weird that Scoot isn't playing in SL, although he and Sharpe apparently participated in the first practice. I'm not really sure the low level baskeball played at SL is really going to benefit him in any way.

Anybody else think Clingan is going to grasp Chauncey's system in about 10 minutes after coming from Hurley's system of compound actions?

If Clingan does, that is just depressing....

Man, looking at this OKC/Philly game...

I recognize that it's SL, but two players I liked a lot that the Blazers could have had, Dillon Jones and Ajay Mitchell showing out. Mitchell just looks hyper-efficient. Jones would have 10 assists by now if he had actual NBA players around him...great passing.

Memphis/Utah...going to be so many good players out of this 2024 draft. Top end? Probably not a ton...but in 5 years I think people are going to be surprised at how talented this class is overall.

Edey looked really, really good last night.

Like a giant'er Adams with far better offensive feel.

There’s a very good chance the Blazers chose the wrong big. Edey’s defensive awareness and ability to not foul with quick hands is elite. Add that to his unreal screen setting and his impact will be felt on both sides of the ball from day 1. As you said like a jumbo Steven Adams.

We’ll see with Clingan, but I worry about his foul rate and ability to stay on the floor. And he’s slower than Edey.

I think there is a very good chance everything you said is correct. We gambled on youth while also betting on convention as Clingan as a defender is more conventional than the skillset Edey brings. I think we end up being wrong.

It would come down to whether Portland would have been better off picking Edey and possibly
not doing the Deni trade and drafting Knecht or De Silva.

Edey in Portland would be a guy who would demand touches while Clingan will be a guy who will be asked to
play the role he played in college which is to rebound, play defense and protect the basket. Both Edey and
Clingan will be setting solid screens but I think Clingan will be an under-rated scorer, who likely has more to
show in his game

Cling had not even played a game yet and it's OMG the sky is falling, we made the wrong choice oh the horror, RELAX!!

Portland drafted a guy to play a specific role, which will be similar to the role he played in college.

Should be a seamless fit for on a team with no shortage of guys who want to shoot. He will help those
guys who love to shoot, to get better shots for like Edey, Clingan will set solid screens.

Watching Edey in the flow of the game yesterday changed my view on his "need" for touches, and offenses designed around him. He won't need touches to impact the offensive end...
