2024 - 2025 Blazers prediction thread

Post#1 » by dckingsfan » Thu Oct 3, 2024 6:14 pm

Here is the drill. Give your win total prediction, Western Conference Standing prediction and League Standing prediction.

Predictions need to be in before the 2nd game of the season.

Mods, if you could sticky this until the 2nd game, that would be terrific.

28 - BlazersBroncos
25 - dckingsfan
22.5 Las Vegas

WCF

15th - dckingsfan

League

27th - dckingsfan

27 wins.

Last place WC. 27th overall.

4th pick in lotto.

RW3 rehabs value with strong play in limited minutes and gets injured right before trade deadline.

Clingan plays about 15 mpg and is promising but has multiple unrelated injuries, 60 games played.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

I'll go with 21 wins. Last in the WC and worst in the NBA.

I believe Brooklyn and the Wiz will win more than the Blazers due to playing in the East and having to play each other.

Predictions:

--BOTH Simons and Grant will be traded, and Scoot will miss 30ish games due to injury.

--By season end I believe Deni will emerge as the Blazer's "best" player after struggling a bit the first 15 games or so.

--The Blazers will pick second in 2025 and choose either Ace Bailey or Dylan Harper.

--Scoot will improve pretty dramatically at the rim and to a lesser extent, his 3pt%.

--Both Scoot and Sharpe will continue to be lost defensively, and not make much headway on that end.

24-58

There are a lot of really good teams in the western conference but Portland is hardly the worst
team in the league. They will earn themselves a top 3 pick going into the lottery but like the
Pistons have done lately will end up picking fifth

20 wins/last/last. Backcourt may be even worse without a partial Brogdon season to lift them. Ayton and his non-impact will eat major minutes in the middle again. The forwards are just OK. The team is in tank/development mode and won't care about winning.

Tank/development mode while likely playing Ayton / Grant / Simons 32MPG+.

I hate it.

Yeah, I think many on here are underestimating the power of Cronin's will to tank the season...I mean he basically expressed as much in his media day presser by talking about "Not skipping any steps".

The good news is that by season end, I fully expect to see 20+ minutes of Clingan a night.

They may have no trade market and they are effective tank commanders. It's horrendous roster construction, but we're stuck with it. :dontknow:

Agreed. People have said the team isn't picking a lane, but I think we've been witnessing a deep rebuild for 2-3 years already. The veterans certainty aren't preventing the team from losing oodles of games, and there are enough minutes to go around for the few deserving prospects. We all wish for more and better prospects and fewer dead-end veterans, but it's hard for me to say the team isn't effectively bottoming out.

I am going with 30 wins this season, but I could easily see that being a low ball I think people are underrating this team in general. If none of our players make a big leap it could be as low as 25 wins, but 30 wins should be easily in grasp barring tanking the last bit.

I'll go with 19. I like a lot of our players but Billups is such a bad coach, and the west so brutal, that the whole will be less than the sum of the parts.
