Sharpe has too many turnovers off his handle, hits a midrange J, like to see him shooting in that range

Good drive by, Sharpe, DA cleans it up for the score

Bad 3pt shot by Simons there, defender was all over him

Transition D strikes again

Sharpe hits a 3! Then hits the bank on the drive, it looked like it was meant to be a pass

There’s Luka being Luka, and 1

Nice push-up the court by Scoot and he drew the foul

Nice drive by Avdija off the rebound there

Scoot’s shooting has gotta improve

Kyrie just bullied Simons there

Avdija to Camara for dunk, POR hanging around

Nice block by Avdija

Good steal by Scoot there, Avdija FT game tied

Scoot hits a 3 to end 1Q

DC just leveled Luka on that screen

Good jumper by Sharpe there, 4-6 tonight

Avdija with a 3, then finish on a fast break

Horrible defense on that lay in by Irving there, no one helping?

5min left in 2Q, Grant makes his first shot, that is what $30mil will get you Cronin

Bad miss by Camara there, like him better in 2pt range, around the basket

Put a body on Simons (be physical) and he has trouble scoring

DAL starting to pull away

FG% DAL 56% POR 43%

Luka makes a ball fake look so easy, love seeing players utilize that, it is such a grossly underrated skill

Bad pass by Simons, then bad defense\foul, yep par for the course

Oh, good board by Camara there, DA basket interference

Steal & flush by Sharpe, quit it with the cobra bs Colabro, save that crap for when SEA has a franchise

DAL heating up from 3, now up by 15, Grant still with 3pts, lol

Deni had 11 PTS in 11min in the 1st half, do you think the coaching staff will play him more minutes in the 2nd half? I doubt it.

Grant misses a wide open 3, come on man that’s what you’re getting paid for. That’s your one good skill, then wild pass that ends up as a TO, please take him out before he tanks his value any worse, $30mil….$30mil, that’s what Cronin gave him for FIVE years

I swear Avdija gets no calls

Murray checks in, about time, couldn’t be any worse than Grant. Probably the last time we see Grant for the night.

Deni with the 3 off the inbound

Tough pass there Scoot, ends up as a TO

See, that’ll end up as a TO by Scoot, but Murray fumbled and easy layin there

Gafford outplaying $30mil man Ayton

DAL just such a better offensive\passing\movement team. I mean, it is part players for sure, but the coaching is clearly part of the equation here

DAL 21 AST, 7 TO
POR 15 AST L, 13 TO

I see it so bad, they are on to the Cedar Rapids nonsense again, this TV crew is as bad as the roster

POR down by 27, minutes leaders for POR? Ayton, Camara Simons

POR “big 3” is SO overpaid it is ridiculous, it would be funny if they were on another team

Deni, 17pts, POR leading scorer, 18min

Remember these preseason comments by Cronin? They seem relevant now.

“Very pleased with the offseason”

“We have a roster we really like”

“We have a lot of veterans who all have multiple additional steps they can take”

“We value continuity “

Scoot picks up 5th foul, I think having another actual PG on the roster (not Simons pretending to be one) might’ve been a good idea?

lol, Simons is still in, got to build up his trade value, right Cronin? Or maybe this added playing time will help him improve?

Steal by Sharpe & flush, he has been very quiet since the 1st half, and there is the stellar TV crew, talking about his vertical on his dunks, like who gives a crap?

Scoot just cannot finish consistently, it is baffling because he clearly has the athleticism

Murray fumbles another easy shot

Scoot hits a 3, gonna need to hit a lot more of those consistently

Who was that wraparound pass to Scoot? It is like some (often?) times he drives, without a plan?

Good take there by Rupert, got fouled on the drive

Why take Scoot out? Seriously, the game is way out of hand, play him till the end of the game. What the heck is Billups doing?

POR down by 30

I don’t know how on earth that Cronin could watch this team and think that he doesn’t need to make wholesale changes? I mean, they are an awfully constructed and coached team just bad across-the-board

I think Walker’s new nickname should be “the garbage man” that seems to be a part of the game where he actually looks decent

This is the first year, in a long time that I am determined to watch every game, and I am already starting to regret it, and it isn’t even “tank season“ yet

I think the scouting report is out on the lob into DC now, gonna have to be a little more precise with that pass

Rupert blazing down on a fast break, got fouled again

Ball game, mercifully

The effort was good? What the hell is Chauncey talking about?

Grant 3pts, is that good effort?

Simons 10pts, is that good effort?

Sharpe, only 24min, 13pts

Avdija, best player on the floor tonight, only 23min, 19pts

For the 100th time, Billups has got to go. The guy is a terrible coach

Canzano on his last site has been saying Billips is going to eventually get fired with Portland
going the interim coach route.

It'll be interesting to see who Portland gets to replace Chauncey for next season.

It won't be the UConn coach who has a top 5 incoming recruiting class

You are probably right, however, I would love if it was Hurley. I think the guy wants to move to the NBA, and with a young team, he could instill an offensive scheme

Yes, he really said that

yeah...this is Cronin's roster and it sucks. Now, Cronin isn't the condescending pryk that Olshey was, but his decisions may actually be worse in many ways.

Cronin's job 1 was to dismantle Olshey's idiotic roster. He did that, probably with the Vulcans leering over his shoulder. Job 2 was to develop a roster of attractive assets and young prospects. The young prospect part of the job has been remedially successful, but his collection of assets is the opposite of attractive. That's a failure. Worse, is the value of those assets have only gone down. Simons, Grant, Ayton, Thybulle, Timelord....the vets have either performed poorly or had little value to begin with. For the young guys, Sharpe has yet to consistently establish anything; Scoot is a massive disappointment; And Clingan can't seem to be given enough minutes by the coach to accomplish anything.

The Blazers added Avdija, but they did so at a cost of 4 draft picks (and Brogdon), and in a practical sense, he's probably the kind of player that should be added to a playoff team, not to a team as bad as Portland. He's a good player, but he's kind of wasted on this Blazer team. And while Camara has been a real bright spot, it's really hard to see both Avdija and Camara as starters at forwards, not if the Blazers want to compete for a playoff spot. By the way, Camara will be 25 in May

I looked before I started this post, back in the 2018-19 season, game threads were 5-8 pages long. There was a 3 page thread for a pre-season game. The combination of Jody + Cronin + Billups is killing interest in the Blazers. Dumpster fires at every level and there doesn't seem to be anybody interested in dealing with it.

Yep.

The losing streak will continue, more ping pong balls are accumulating. The only sad part is that the team is becoming unwatchable during this unintended tank. And the veterans look to have "checked out" as a team.

At this point. I see no other possibility than another painful year of this. But - I guess that is what it will take.

So yes, mission accomplished.

I would trade Simons, Grant and Ayton for expiring's at this point. I absolutely hate watching this trio of nothingness. I have watched like 4 games this season and those 3 doofuses are the main reason I have so little interest.

DC 15 minutes despite only 2 fouls. Inexcusable.
Deni 23 minutes while clearly being our best player. Inexcusable.
Simons and Ayton w/ the teams worst +/-. Expected.
