Glad to see you coming back, mainly curious if you have heard anything about extending Simons and us keeping him. That would really bum me out.

prepare to be bummed out

not only that, Goldbum says in another thread that the F.O. is still really invested in believing in Ayton being a star

Ayton is a good player. Totally worthy of the full MLE. Same with Simons.

BOO JASON! WE ARE GOING TO GIVE HIM A HUGE EXTENSION, SO YOU CLAIMING MLE PLAYERS ARE WORTH THE MLE IS SOMEHOW BAD!

And, as everyone loves to overlook because it makes arguing easier, I said Ayton and Simons are great MLE players. Both have skills and flaws. But both are worthy of a league average contract and 20-30 minutes a night.

WELL WE ARE GOING TO OVERPAY THEM AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT!

That's, again, not on me. Not my money, not my decision.

IF WE DON'T OVERPAY THEN SOMEONE ELSE WILL.

Okay. If a team is willing to pay $25M+ a season for Ayton/Simons, enjoy balancing your cap. That's $25M+ each in free cap space to work with.

YEAH BUT AYTON WAS A MAJOR PIECE IN THE DAME/NURKIC TRADE.

And so stealthy was Camara. And I'd rather pay him.

Perhaps they are negotiating a contract for Simons that would appeal to a team like the Magic?

ORL can trade for Simons, re-sign him to a modest deal (around what he is making now) and still stay under the luxury tax. I don't think Simons is worth $25-27mil/year, but to JasonStern's point, he may resign for less than that, especially on a playoff team in his hometown...
