Ayton will expire during the 2026 season so the Blazers could potentially have cap space available as they continue to rebuild thru the draft and possibly thru free agency. Blazers get a look at Bol Bol and give him minutes to see what he can do with an opportunity for minutes.

With all due respect, Blazers20...this is so far outside the temperature/direction of what the team seems to be doing right now, I don't even know where to begin.

I would do this trade and then not extend Zion or Ingram, let them both expire. Let Ayton expire as well.

And then start the rebuild in earnest.

Does that sound like something Cronin would do?

I'll just do the Orlando portion and scrap the rest of the deal. I'd buy low on Zion. Clingan and Scoot isn't that, however.

Zion isn't ever going to change. Ingram is oft-injured. The ONLY reason you do this trade is that you are going to do a full-blown rebuild.

Even then, the only player you want to change in the outgoing group is Clingan. Substitute Clingan for Sharpe. Rebuild around Avdija/Camara/Clingan.

In context, I don't feel that Cronin has moved on from Ayton/Grant and Simons in any way shape or form. In fact, I think they will extend both Ayton and Simons this offseason (possibly Williams as well).

Oh I was sniffing what you were stepping in...

A tear it down rebuild primarily built on the idea of having capspace for a team like Portland makes no sense. It's draft or bust for Portland if they want to start over.
