Is it Possible that Chauncey being a lame duck this year, purposely ruined our lottery odds (by trying to win),and play-in hopes (by purposely losing the Bulls game) knowing he will turn down the team option (hopefully)?

I'm more and more convinced that Billups and Cronin are in place as "yes' men for Kolde. I think it would be insulting for the Blazers to offer the team option for another lame duck season to Billups. If it is offered I would be completely amazed if he accepted it.

I think its a lot more likely we re sign Chauncey than let him go. I'll gladly take heat for this but I think keeping him would be a massive mistake

I think you guys are overthinking a successful season. Just let it be

This was not a successful season.

Let's hope Chauncey has decided he's had enough and finds another coaching job

It would be interesting to see who Joe wants to be HC next season if Chauncey left.

With an absentee owner it's clear everyone is just looking out for themselves and trying to get paid. It's not like Jody is really invested in the game, as long as the overhead is lowish and people keep going to the games the who cares? The real owner or shadow owner is Kolde right? I would have to assume he knows a lot more about the sport than Jody and kind of furthers the idea that this is a cash cow and everyone is getting theirs regardless of the teams success, including Jody who doesn't get anything if she sells the team and gives the money to charity.

So i guess everyone is a lame duck in a sense? Cronin decided that it would be easier to justify giving himself a large contract extension by adding meaningless wins to the record instead of actually setting the team up for future success by losing. It's pretty obvious that tanking and acquiring assets like picks/ young players is a better way of justifying your individual success long term, but Cronin just isn't good at it so he had to hope for a play in birth instead and since Jody doesn't really care that much it worked.

I'm not saying they don't want to win as opposed to losing, no one would. I'm just saying that this appears to be exactly where they want to be.

Next up is Billups.

One would think Malone would have better coaching options than Portland.

Perhaps Chauncey will pursue the Nuggets job

We’ll see. Regardless, the guy I wanted to take over from Chauncey is who is taking over for Malone in Denver. I suspect the Nuggets will just give Adelman the full time gig…. But the GM also being fired throws a wrinkle in that.

Rumblings Bob Myers might get the GM job, and at that point, does he want to hand pick a new coach or give Adelman the full time gig?

Also for what it’s worth, I don’t think Malone is really a good fit for the Blazers.

Denver cleaning house after a championship and Cronin gets an extension for winning 14 meaningless games putting us ina terrible position, says so much about the ownership and leadership of this organization.

Not sure I get the Malone move for Denver.

Seems like odd timing to dump a coach and GM for a 4 seed playoff team.

They’re kinda 4 seed in name only, they could just as easily slip to 7 with how close those teams are.
