Hopefully we draft a star that everyone else missed.
Failing that, trade SS and pick to move up for Tre Johnson. I like SS, but that 3 is not there and this resets the rookie contract clock.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

I wonder what it would cost to trade up to 3 to go get Edgecombe

I don't think Philly would do it for anything we've got to offer. They shouldn't, and probably won't, use #3 to dump George and get a lesser player/prospect back. Nor, I imagine, would they move from #3 to #11 for anything Portland would give up.
But I like your thinking. I keep watching more of Edgecombe and coming away more impressed. He isn't quite at the skill level I want to see in an elite prospect, but when you compare him with, say, Ace Bailey or Shaedon Sharpe, the way he sees the game and reacts is just so much faster and more sophisticated. I am convinced he is going to figure out the NBA game, even if it takes a couple years of sharpening his tools.
I am also foolishly allowing myself to believe there's a chance we could trade up to #2. It would surely cost Deni and our pick, maybe more, but I would do it. The Blazers need to take big swings, and Harper could be a franchise player.

Re: 2 Question Poll in One thread
I mean, you see what's out there trade wise. But you probably just pick the BPA at #11 and try to move Grant for expirings. Gives ownership a year to sell the team. Team then has a young roster, max cap space, and no bad contracts for new ownership to do what they want with.
Trash draft to move down in.
You could probably get 19+26+36 from Brooklyn for 11, but I don't see how that makes any sense.
Chicago landing #12 sucks. If they had ~#16, we could possibly trade down to relinquish the pick owed. But they don't.
#3 is probably attainable, but you're looking at something like #11+Simons+Grant to take on 4 years of an injured 35 year old Paul George at $50M/season. Cap suicide. You'd have to be pretty confident you found a foundation tier piece to do that. I'd consider #3 for Deni+#11, but I think sides balk at that. Too much risk if the trade backfires.

Option 3, with a twist.
Acquire more first round draft picks.
There are plenty of good players in the first round, that fit the Blazers needs, and rebuild. However.
Due to every teams cap space issues, trading our players for a player and a pick is very difficult.
The Jazz, Nets, and Thunder have more FRPs than they probably can use. So a twist.
Trade for more of this years FRPs using some combination of the future Bucks picks. No players involved, unless we can dump Simons to the Magic for16.

Respect for actually coming up with an idea and proposing a reasonable way in which that idea could be executed. Nice change of pace.
Not a fan of trading the Bucks picks/swaps, though. Dame is running on borrowed time, and Giannis is a flight risk. If the rebuild works for the Blazers, those picks could be the "trade for Buck Williams" put Portland closer to the top move. Or, in a cap conscious league, reinvigorate the roster with cheap talent on cheap contracts. If we had a clear #1 option or even made a run, I'd be far more open.

Understood.
Guess my idea is, put the Bucks picks, and our own tradeable picks in play. Then see what offers come in.
My guess is, a dozen gms will be calling. But Cronin has full control. If the right deal does not come in, nothing lost.
We have no idea what the other gms might offer.

I'm not sure there's a star at 11 so trade down for some high floor role players like Nique, Yaxel, Wolf, WCJ. There's a chance guys like Demin and Jakakunis end up being good starters but i dont see star potential. Coward has so much potential with the shooting and defense, but are you reaching at 11? I think he'll probably go in the lottery after teams see him in workouts.
