If we want to keep the original 2025 off season - feel free to delete this new thread.

However - it seems that this off season has passed a significant check point, and we are moving into a different phase of the off season.

As the roster currently stands, this is the depth chart:

PG: Jrue Holiday, Scoot Henderson, Cidy Sissoko (?)
SG: Shaedon Sharp
SF: Toumani Camara, Matice Thybulle, Kris Murray, Rayan Rupert
PF: Deni Avdija, Jerami Grant, Robert Williams
C: Donovan Clingan, Deandre Ayton, Hansen Yang, Duop Reath

Free agents
Delano Banton (UFA)
Bryce McGowan (RFA)
Justin Minaya (RFA)
Jabari Walker. (RFA)

This roster is still unbalanced. What does Cronin need to do next?

I would probably slide Rupert over to SG.

It's very clear I think who's up on the block this summer...

Grant, Williams, Ayton, Reath and Thybulle. Some collection of those 5 are going to be moved. I would also personally cut Rupert, I just don't see it, but maybe they see progress internally we aren't privy to?

I also think, while yes unbalanced at C, the roster isn't nearly that unbalanced as the depth chart looks given guys ability to slide over.

Holiday/Scoot
Sharpe/Thybulle
Camara/Grant
Deni/Grant
Ayton/Clingan

If all healthy, they've got a 9 man rotation. My biggest what if is Grant accepting a bench role. I have a hard time seeing that or even Billups being willing to put him on the bench because of his vet respect. So actually opening night 9man rotation I think will be this:

Holiday/Scoot
Camara/Sharpe
Deni/Thybulle
Grant/Thybulle
Ayton/Clingan

Which is also kind of depressing because it would mean the Blazers summer is basically already done.

Kevin Huerter would be ideal IMO.

I agree about lack of depth at SG. Sure, they could play Jrue, Tou, Tice or Rupert in those minutes, but a player like Coward would have looked really good behind Shaedon.

To the point of this thread, I am assuming the next big moves will be:

1) Shaedon extension
2) Consolidation trades

Cronin is too unpredictable for me to predict his next move. :banghead:

At least to my eyes, when the Blazers played Rupert last year he mostly functioned as the SG in the offense...

Kris Murray is not needed if Thybulle is back, and Reath needs to go as well. I don't really see a role for Banton on the team any longer with Jrue here, nor do I think the team will match any offers for Walker...even if he's the only player really capable of playing smallball C...

Huerter or Knetch are really high on my watch list for trade pieces.

I wonder if the Blazers will get involved with trading for Reeves, who just turned down his 4 year
extension offer, using the expiring contract of Ayton.

Not one of those players: Banton, Reath, Walker, Murray, Rupert are worth keeping they are all just wasting space

I don't know. I like what I see from Rayan. He's so young and has had so few reps, I'd rather keep him over Murray.

I'd like to keep TimeLord as a mentor at this point. I'd trade Ayton and Reath. Don't bring back Banton. Trade Murray. Resign Walker if the deal is minimal. Trade Grant if we can without giving anything up to get off him.

Scoot/Jrue/Cidy
Shae/Jrue/Rayan
Toumani/Matisse or non-tax MLE.
Deni/Grant/Walker
Clingan/RW/Yang/Walker smallball.

Rupert is the one guy who might be worth hanging onto b/c he is still so young, but he has such a long way to go still

I'm all for getting rid of Grant and Ayton for anything really, preferably for players we might be able to cut maybe some 2nd round picks? I like Thybulle and I think Reath fills the 3rd center spot well enough. Rw3 is just damaged goods, if he wants to stay on could we restructure his contract in any way? Murray is not to my liking, like others have said i would hang on to Rupert. Just like Scoot, Yang is going to need reps and Ayton is blocking that. Banton and Walker are serviceable if needed.

Looking at the depth chart, it looks like SG depth should be a priority.

Sharp has not been the picture of health throughout his career. If they could get some shooting off the bench, with a bonus of a secondary creator, it would be very helpful.

Hopefully they can do a consolidation trade to clear up their bench and upgrade their talent.

I'd let Banton and Walker go. I'd hang on to Rupert.

What could the Blazers offer Houston for Whitmore?

I would really like to upgrade Shaedon...

Who could we put a package together for the starting 2 spot?

Holiday/Scoot
Camara/Sharpe
Deni/Thybulle
Grant/Thybulle
Ayton/Clingan

I actually kind of love this because I think Camara has more scoring potential than most people think and would not be surprised if he topped out around 18-19 ppg with shots and I think Sharpe is a 6th man type player.

Or I would still really like to figure out how to get Knecht in a Grant or Ayton deal.

Holiday/Scoot
Knecht/Sharpe
Camara/Thybulle
Deni/Grant
Clingan/RW/Yang

I have no doubt Knecht can put up 18-20 in a starting role on a team that desperately needs shooting and Knecht offers that but we also would have to take all these other guys i dont care about for salary...
