Semi-OT: Bucks waived Lillard to sign Turner

Post#1 » by DusterBuster » Tue Jul 1, 2025 3:24 pm

From shams, don’t have the x link, but the Bucks did a stretch waive to get rid of Lillard and then sign Myles Turner away from the Indy…

Obviously Portland couldnt have seen this coming and Dame is gonna be out a significant amount of time next season, but if they wanted a vet mentor for Scoot… he sure would have been worlds cheaper than Jrue…

Bring Dame HOME.

Seriously could sign him for the vet minimum and it would be a major PR victory after all the disappointing moves. Get Dame back after building a defensive powerhouse? I sure wouldn't mind adding a top 10 all time shooter for next to nothing.

It would be too good to be true, there's no way Cronin would do it but I would be sooooooooo happy.

Now that I think about it, it's the first time Dame has been a FA, he definitely finishes his career in LA or Miami. :(

Dame would be the 3rd string PG when he comes back in 2026. I doubt there is interest either way.

Grant could make a ton of sense in MIL - but I would want a pick or swap if I had to endure Kuzma on this team.

Step 1: Send Jrue to Mil for spare Buck Parts and a 2nd
Step 2: Bring Dame home

We clearly see Holiday as a core part of our guard rotation starting this season. Pivoting to Dame leaves us with no-one for 25/26 at guard behind the kids.

Not to mention given the move to a defensive centric culture signing a post-achilles Dame, who already was a poor defender, sort of goes against that grain lol

They do, but if Jrue (or his agent) says... "I don't want to be here, send me to Milwaukee", Joe Cronin will do what he always does, which is bend over a barrel to the players/agents requests.

The Jrue trade is not finalized/complete yet, had to wait for July 7th or something I think? So that deal can still be expanded/changed.

Yea, it’s probably unrealistic but you never know. A lot would depend on how he recovers from injury, both physically and mentally. But there is a plausible scenario where he is willing to take a back up role sometime down the line depending on what kind of player he is when he returns.

Why would he be a third string pg?

You think Scoot is better? You think Chauncey wouldn't start Dame? LOL, wow. His injury definitely affects even the best players, but if anyone could come back from this, he could. But lets say he plays backup and if he makes it back at 60% of what he was, he's still better than Scoot will ever be. Trade Scoot and Shaedon plus some picks for an upgrade somewhere and try and win in 2026. a PG lineup of old Jrue and Dame would still be dope af. Damn, Dame's revenge tour when healthy is going to be nuts.

Adding dame to the defense we have would be the most ideal team possible for him.

God, this thread is going to be so depressing.

He put up 25, 7 and 5 last year.. After years of having to read all the delusional Dame hate from other teams fanbases now i have to read it from Blazer fans.

This "theory" of yours had no basis in facts and is just more butt hurt nonsense. Jrue would and hopefully will be a good influence on this team...Dame does not fit the picture

Blazers however made out like bandits in getting Ayton to give back $10 million while the Bucks have to
eat $22 Million/season for the next 5 seasons.

It'd be interesting if Milwaukie does makes a run at Jrue and offers to modify their pick obligations to
Portland if they had to take on Kuzma

You hate Simons for no defense yet "sir" dola$$$$ has played none in his time here. Do you want Scoot shooting 80 foot shots? DAME is a legend here, but not sure he is a worth whatever he is worth. His time has passed, god bless him, but he ain't what we need RIGHT NOW

Man idk whether id sign Dame of not. He's better than any pg we have obviously but im also not sure i want a 35-36 year old Dame (when healthy) taking away ball movement and the momentum we have moving forward.

If we did sign him we better be darn sure we could move off jrue in a season. But either way feels like itd hinder scoot's development and one could probably make a pretty strong case for jrue as a 2 way player being more impactful to a team especially as Dame's athleticism wanes considerably especially after the injury

What’s the logic in signing a 34 year old with a torn Achille- the glazing here is next level

Portland is not going to make moves in 25/26 with the idea in mind that in a year Dame will be a good bench scorer. Thats completely insane.

Makes Scoot the unquestionable starter (which he should have been since Day 1 and learning through the growing pains... but I digress) and gives him his vet mentor the team seems so desperate to want they were willing to take on 70+mil in salary.
