CJ Now Wants to Return?

OH, HELL NO!!!

He was a good player back in his time here, but misused. Should have been a 6th man like how Jason Terry and Jamal Crawford were used in their careers. Anyhow, unless he willing to sit at the end of the bench and play when rotational players are injured, I don't think this is a good idea.

CJ traded for Grant.

Saves two years of paying Grant.

CJ is a great human being but not a fit on this roster in the slightest.

I hope he can get a buyout from WAS and go latch on to a contender. Would love to see him in DEN as a super 6th man.

Obv you do CJ for Grant due to the money but no way in hell WAS does that.

For Grant. Otherwise, see him at his vineyard.

Id consider trading jrue for him as well but maybe I like that contract less than others

We need Jrue's defense @ guard.

How would he fit in 2 years down the road, when we have Sharpe/Scoot/Holiday/Lillard? He would be a nice backup if he were playing for the vet min.

I like the story of reuniting CJ and Dame, but Thybulle is probably a better fit right now because of his defense and he's been hitting the 3 at a decent rate.

If we can offload Jerami Grant, then yeah, this is a no brainer. But why would the Wizards be interested in that?

It probably would not be a great basketball move though, because then we'd be moving back towards terrible back court defense.

Im of the opinion we should unload that contract and never should have acquired it in the first place. We can find a cheaper defensive stop gap at pg. Now that we have 3 pgs on the roster someone needs to go in the next 1-2 seasons and preferably not scoot

I never really liked CJs skillset all around but he can ride the bench for us. We could do a hell of a lot worse than getting Dame and CJ to be our other options as guards when we’re back in the playoff hunt.

CJ would make a pretty decent 6th man, and we could easily just let his contract expire and move on once Dame gets back next year.

Im sure the wiz would want 1st(s) if we did jerami or jrue for cj's expiring unfortunately.

Maybe I am living in the past. I have hoped for Jrue playing SG for the Blazers since King James made "the desicion". Jrue is the perfect fit playing next to Dame.

Yeah, I think that is in the past (well, against 2026 and beyond). I think the best we can hope for is the two of them splitting the PG position and loading up on defensive players around them.

My 1/2 cent.

Caveat, I am not a sentimental person...I like the idea of Lillard coming back only because I like the idea of somebody being that dedicated to a team/location and Portland in particular--especially in today's NBA. But overall, I could kinda care less about Lillard coming back.

I like the idea of growing something organically out of Scoot and Sharpe and potentially Jrue, over Lillard and CJ being back. Adding Lillard and CJ would seem to fly in the face of the new found defensive identity of the team.

To me, mortgaging any team future to an 80% Lillard and a 50% CJ would be a pretty big mistake if the cost is Scoot and Sharpe.

I don't particularly love Sharpe or Scoot, but the Blazers still don't really know what they have in both of them because of injuries and them being young. To not put them in a place to be maximized seems like a pretty big fail all around.

I get the fun of having celebrated players back on the team, but only if it makes sense in the W/L record. In the case of CJ, I don't really see a need or a fit for him on the team.

I still have respect for CJ, but he is not better than Sharpe, Scoot, or Holiday anymore. The following season, he hope to have Dame back as well. He has no place here.

CJ isnt coming to PDX to be the 4th guard this year and likely 5th guard next year. He has too much left in the tank.

I also am not interested in bringing a Simons clone back to this team. Just sign Banton if you want more guard scoring.

This would be such a great move. And Washington is dumb enough to consider it. So, zero chance it happens.
I don't have a cool avatar image because Dame came home.
