Re: Scoot Out 4-8 weeks
At some point we need to figure out why a guy in Scoot's physical shape can't seem to stay healthy.
It does take one puzzle piece off the board for camp drama tho (not that there was much chance of Scoot starting over Jrue).

These days it seems like most players deal with a good amount of injuries, players are pushing their physical abilities near the limit and then that seems to boost the chance of injury.
I would love to see data on 1990s players vs. 2020's to see how much more prolific injuries are in the modern day.

I would be conservative and let it go the full 8 weeks (depending of course). Hamstring injuries can go on and on...

At this point? Scoot is injury prone.

Re: Scoot Out 4-8 weeks
Scoot just pushed himself a little too hard, I think it’s self evident. He blogged his entire offseason

He's had three offseasons to figure out what his trainers want from him. Personally, I don't think this has anything to do with really going harder than normal this offseason. Judging by the expected return to basketball activities this is a pretty serious soft tissue injury--to be clear, even in a best case scenario if he returns to basketball related activities after 4 weeks, he'll likely miss the first month of the season.
So far he's missed roughly a quarter of the regular season in each of his first two years, which is well above average for players his age and with his minute load.

Re: Scoot Out 4-8 weeks
So who is our backup point guard now?
Who brings the ball up under pressure? Who initiates the offense?
Deni is too turnover prone to be the primary initiator, even if it's only 15 minutes a game.

He and Jrue will be the primary initiators, I would guess...maybe with a little bit of Sharpe bringing the ball up as well.
For a team that is making a big show of banking on competing now, they sure haven't handled their roster depth very well. If Jrue and Scoot miss time together they are going to be down to zero healthy guards with sufficient experience as a primary ball handler. Assuming RWIII basically isn't going to play, the Blazers are one Clingan injury away from 48 minutes of Yang and Duop.

Yeah, Deni and Jrue for sure. Deni has improved every season - this needs to be his season to add to the assists while not adding to the TOs.
He is certainly focused on that aspect of his game. He will or he won't.
I also see this as a very good thing in terms of the future. If Deni is running the point he is gaining valuable experience for the future while probably ensuring we keep our pick.

That's good news, as a complete rupture of the hamstring can be catastrophic for athletes. It's pretty rare that grade 2 tears need surgery. Sounds like it's a grade 2 tear, which means that it will be a long recovery. Having gone through similar recovery myself, with ramp up I imagine that Scoot doesn't see any action for a good long while. If the team is cautious, that could even put it past the New Year.

Cronin, in his press conference said it would be Wesley & Caleb Love, but I suspect you may see Deni play on ball more. Maybe they also try Sharpe there, can't imagine that will go well....

Injuries...POR was bound to bit by them this year, after remaining relatively healthy LY. If Clingan\Deni or Tou go down, lottery city here they come....

Yep, my guess - 8 weeks to resume bball activities. Guessing 10 to 12 weeks?

Probably lottery here we come regardless. The west is ridiculous this season (unless the injury bug bites a couple of other teams instead).

Impossible to know, of course...but yeah, 12 weeks would be what? Dec 22nd?
Knowing how long my grade 2 took to get back to running (which was about 4 months before I started to forget about it), and factoring in the fact that Scoot for whatever reason seems to take a long time to come back from injuries, I'd be willing to bet we don't see him on the court until January...which is close to the worst news possible.
I hope I'm completely wrong and we see him playing in games in November.
