I saw on Blazersedage that the injury situation is promising

"Billups said Camara and Avdija both practiced fully on Monday, and he thinks they’ll be ready to go for Wednesday’s home opener. Camara also said he’s good to go.

Billups said wing Matisse Thybulle and center Robert Williams III practiced fully on Monday with no restrictions."

Thanks for the Cat videos BC...I needed those today.

Portland I think won a game against Minny last year during their "good" stretch. I seem to recall Ant Edwards having a big game, too. Fingers crossed for a W.

That's pretty big news if Portland can play Deni, Matisse and RWIII instead of Murray, Love and Reath.

Blazers have a tough beginning to their season with MIN/GSW/DEN/LAL/OKC.

Time Lord will reinjure himself getting coffee at Dutch bros wednesday morning and be out for 10 games

In general this season looks promising, not gonna be world beaters but im curious to see how they gel. I still disagree with the jrue trade and probably will for a good while but I do think his leadership will help this team and maybe get us in the play in if (we weren't far away as it was) albeit at a pretty expensive price.

...also in a town with all sorts of lower-end coffee options, nobody should be drinking Dutch Bros.

I'm kind of rooting for us to tank, get Boozer to fill in the rest of our "for the future" lineup, and then get Dame back next year along with another year of maturity with Sharpe, Scoot, and the centers. But that's mostly because I don't think we're quite good enough talent-wise where we would avoid the first round exit purgatory.

I’m not a coffee snob. I have a Three Sisters roast I really like.

If all goes to my plan (and why shouldn't it) the vets will all be fine taking a high-minute back seat on a winning team, while the NBA gets behind Portland doing well and gifts the Blazers a big lotto bump like Dallas and San Antonio. Blazers get #1 and select Boozer or AJ or Peterson...

Scoot/Lillard
Sharpe/Jrue
Camara/Grant
Deni/Boozer
Clingan/Yang

Now THAT is a team I can get behind...

I think Grant is likely gone, and eventually Deni as a super sub like Ginobilli would be really awesome.

Seems like they're going to have to do something between Grant and Jrue. My hope is that Grant settles into his role as a 3&D, ball-hog scorer off the bench this season. Even next year, at a salary that is roughly 20% of the projected cap...it seems like it's just going to be tough to trade him. The player option year after that (and he'd be insane not to take his option) it's 19.5%.

Thing is...the "super sub" thing is fine for players as long as you're competing for championships and there are strong roles in place. On teams that are competing for the play-in or getting out of the first round? Who knows...

Sounds like Grant is not starting.

Starters. Jrue, Shaedon, Camara, Deni, Clingan.

Hope they show us "some" improvement on O.

Personally felt it was a little silly for assumptions to be that Grant would start. So glad to see I was correct there. Hoping Scoot gets to start once he comes back. Don't take steps back now, Chauncey!

Happy you were correct too as this is the lineup I also wanted, but don't see how it was silly to make that assumption when based on history of the NBA, predisposition by coaches to always value vets over youth and the up-and-down nature of Sharpe's season last year.

It's quite simple to connect the dots that Billups was have gone with Grant in the starting 5, but to Sharpe's credit, he did what he needed to do in camp and preseason to take that spot away from Grant and force Billups' hand.

It should also be noted, if Sharpe is still inconsistent night to night out and the team isn't winning, don't be surprised to see Grant back in the starting 5 and Sharpe back on the bench in early Nov.

The 2 contract extensions being super reasonable and now Grant not starting.

Its been a good few days for Blazers fans.

Unless Scoot can outplay Jrue, I don't think it will happen.
Until we are out of the playoff picture, Chauncey will do what it takes to win, over considerations like player development.
So barring injury, a major decline in Jrue's game, or a major improvement in Scoot's game - I don't think Scoot will start before the ASG.

It's not "sounds like" officially. It comes from mouth of Billups. :)

Grant to the bench and Billups does take time addressing that change.

Should be the lineup all year id imagine. Cant see scoot starting ahead of jrue unless things go really south.

As much as i hate the contract Jerami really gives us a nice piece for the second unit. And if he starts again at least he will have to work for it rather than be handed it for crap play

I'm not willing to say it'll be the all year lineup. Sharpe did what he needed in camp and preseason to clearly win it, but Billups will have no problem pulling him if he's being inconsistent mentally in games or slacking on defense.

And yeah, agreed on Scoot. Unlike Shae, Scoot is behind the eight-ball having missed all camp and preseason. For him to prove he deserve the start over Jrue, he needs to first get back into playing shape and then stay healthy... then he has to outperform Jrue. The earliest that can happen is maybe February... at best? Far likeliest scenario is that that the only way Scoot gets any nod over Jrue is via injury at this point this season.
