Freeland goes up against Fernandez

It's a little late (12/23) but Freeland and his club beat power house DKV Joventut 75-69:
Rudy Fernandez
26 min.
12 pts (4-11 fg)
4 rebs
5 ast
Joel Freeland
14 min.
10 pts (4-6 fg)
5 rebs

Obviously not one of Rudy's best games. One thing Jason Quick noticed about Freeland this summer was his aggressiveness, a few times resulting in posterizing Oden and LaMarcus in scrimmages. 6'11" 245 lbs and athletic, not a bad thing to have stashed over seas.

Thanks for the post Dakotah. Particularly timely for me as I was just browsing around looking to see if I could see how Rudy, Joel and Peterri were doing. Good to see Joel's getting off the bench this year.

Doesn't Freeland look like Przybilla? I always think they're related b/c of their 1st name(doesn't mean anything), but in the last picture posted by Dakotah, his face looks extremely like Przybilla's..

It's nice to see Joel doing better than that he was. Having played both with and against him on various occasions it's obvious that he has serious game, NBA game? Not so sure.
I wasn't happy with the club that he is at, it looks as if he is playing slightly more but really Gran Canaria isn't doing him any favors. If I was Portland I would be worried, I think his limited court time could be seriously hindering his development.
Still that looks to have been a real positive performance, as an Englishman I can only hope we see more of the same.

he looks like he's got some muscle since the time the blazers drafted him.
what are his real chances of being a blazer in the next 2-3 years?

Then who's leaving? McRoberts? Green? Miles?
We have to clear up 3-4 more roster spots from this year to the next, and I honestly have no idea how they're going to do it barring a trade.
Oden, Fernandez, Freeland, 1st round pick hmm

I think he could mean players that aren't playing and will be "rookies" next year.
I don't see Freeland coming over next year yet though.

This should be sticked as a Fernandez/Freeland/Koponen tracking thread.
Anyways, their ACB season averages thus far:
Joel Freeland
11 MPG
4.0 PPG
2.2 RPG
Rudy Fernandez
26 MPG
17.5 PPG
2.9 RPG
4.5 APG

Rudy had another good game in DKV's loss against Pamesa Valencia (1/5)
Rudy Fernandez
33:53 MIN
25 PTS
9-16 FG
4 AST
3 REBS
Joel's team won (1/6) in a near blow out, but as usual, Freeland played sparingly.
Joel Freeland
16:34 MIN
5 PTS
2-4 FG
4 REBS
2 BLKS

In other news, it looks like Nedzad Sinanovic is no longer on the Real Madrid roster. Just think, Sports Illustrated actually had a full article on this guy back when he was "a 7'4" Pau Gasol."

Those assists that Rudy got were fantastic. That bounce pass he made from the high post was very good, but that fake hook shot alley oop was absolutely beautiful.
Also--the more I watch the Joventut videos, the more I dream of us getting Ricky Rubio in a Blazers uniform. He would look amazing next to Brandon.
