How the heck did the Lakers win Montana? That should be a scarlet/black/silver/white state.

Why did Nebraska vote for Doc Rivers? Is there a college connection with one of the players/coaches of the Celtics or something?

How can Doc Rivers even be in the discussion given what he has to work with?

Wouldn't it suck if Phil Jackson won Oregon?

Everyone here voted, correct?

Doc Rivers should be last out of that group.

I completely agree that Rivers doesn't deserve to be on this list. Nearly all of Boston was calling for him to be fired last season, then they make trades for KG and Allen, and all of a sudden he's a CoY candidate?! Rrright...

You could make the argument the Boston wins despite of Rivers.

There were a lot of Blazers fans calling for Nate to be fired as well not too long ago

But I agree, Doc isnt a very good coach. Average at best

I dunno how many were calling on him to be fired, I think a fair amount were questioning if he was really getting in the right direction. (Which he seems to have shut those people up). And heck I still question Nate's sub patterns just about every game. He is far from perfect but then he just might be perfect for the job  .

Doc Rivers strength as a coach is managing players egos... Doc Rivers weakness as a coach is his ability to make the right choices down the stretch of games and his ability to teach young players how to win.

Doc Rivers was the wrongest possible coach for the team the Celtics had last year(Paul Pierce, Wally Sczerbiak and a bunch of younguns). However he's an above average coach for a team loaded with veteran talent like one with 3 perenial all stars. He's one of the few coaches who could get the 3 to work together effectively. He's more of a player manager than a coach, and as such this team has been exceeding the very lofty expectations many gave them to start the year.

That said Nate's coaching job this season has blown away just about everyone else's this year. He's got far less to work with and getting more out of it than just about any coach in recent memory.

I don't know if I'd say there was a "lot" of fans asking for Nate to be fired. However, there certainly was a... shall we say... vocal minority here that were.

Thank goodness our management has more patience than significant portions of our fanbase, eh?

I was & am one who thinks Nate is not the coach
to take the Blazers to the finals. I still think that.. .
We all know my views on it, I think Nate has some
big holes in his coaching ability. But I never said he
should be fired. Infact I stated a few times that if
Nate was out of here who would you replace him
with that could be better?? The only person I came
up with was Rick Carlisle. Also its kind of funny about
the time the Blazers starting winning was around the
time that Nate started to not call as many plays and
started to let the team just play. Also Milkdud I know
your post wasnt ment for me personally but I had to
respond!! Anyway, hopefully Nate will prove me wrong
and fill in those holes in his coaching.. .It would be nice.
But at his rate it will take 6 seasons to do it, lol.. .

I'm pretty much with you, Odd. I never thought Nate was as good as his reputation suggests, and I question stuff he's done on most nights, even during the streak. That said, Nate seems to have figure out that if he tries to play the team like he's playing Madden on Xbox, dictating every play down to the split second decisions, that the team won't respond as well as if he lets up. I'm still not convinced he's the best coach for the team going forward, but I will say that he has made a quantum leap as a coach this season over anything I've seen from him in his previous eight years.
