Blazers VS Hawks - 11am pst Jan. 21, 2008

Post#1 » by Mr Odd » Mon Jan 21, 2008 6:32 am

Spud & Dominique are going to be a tough cover!!

Ok, ok.. .

No joking.. .this is going to be a HARD game for
the Blazers to win. Joe Johnson usually has good
games against the Blazers and for some reason
so does Zaza. Dont forget its a early game so
you never know how the teams will handle that.

Blazers keys to get a win.
*Control the paint on both ends.
*Lots & lots of assists.
*GET TO THE FOUL LIKE A LOT!!
*Spread the court on offense.

The Blazers need this win to stay in the playoff hunt.

I predict Tree Rollins comes out of the stands and bites Sergio on the leg.

All i really wanna see is a strong low-post performance by LA.

Well, and a win of course :D

I'm not too worried about this game. Granted, the Hawks have been great this season but they're no Orlando or Boston and I honestly feel like it's a pretty even matchup.

Atlanta is only favored by a point and a half, so yes, this is a winnable game but no gimme. Lot of young talent and it should be a great game. Have had the Atlanta game in Portland circled for awhile.

Thanks for picking up the threads! I now work graveyard shifts, but I'm going to try and make threads way ahead of time so I can have the game graphics ready in time.

I really wish I could watch this game live. Should be a very interesting comparison between two young franchises that have taken very different approaches in the draft over the last several years.

Even when we were both terrible the games seemed to be toss-ups. I don't think this one will be any exception. We should have a bit of an advantage at PF as I think LMA will be able to score against Horford (I doubt that they wouldn't use Horford on LMA instead of Marvin Williams, as LMA would eat Williams alive defensively and there's not a lot of point in putting a guy on Przybilla), but I think Josh Smith will have a big advantage over anyone we put against him defensively. Unlike with a lot of other teams, the SG matchup should be pretty even as Joe Johnson and Roy will likely cancel each other out for the most part, although I tend to think Roy might be slightly more likely than Johnson to get an advantage here since Johnson lives and dies by the outside shot more than Roy does.

Our bench is deeper, which I think makes this a very winnable game, but unless one or the other team comes out totally flat this will go down the fourth up for grabs.

That's my guess, anyway.

^^Smith will be on LMA. Smith has been playing PF for them and Horford is playing Center. Smith vs LMA should be a fun matchup to watch. Webster vs Williams should be good as well. Both were high draft picks in 05 that were being called busts after their first years in the league

Good luck, guys. There will be some great young talent on the floor today. I've been talking up the Blazers' young talent before you even got Oden and it's nice to see it coming together.
