That's totally unfair. Jay John should be named dictator for life for the OSU basketball team. He was a great contributor to the overall success of the Pac-10.
What the f**k took so long?

PNF, random question, have you ever see the inside of the OSU arena / locker rooms? (I know Mac is bad.. but oh MY)

I'm a duck fan but was wondering when OSU would get their act together and fire Jay John. He's accomplished nothing in his time at OSU and a change was definitely necessary.

I've never actually been in Gill, but I know it as a place with a lot of basketball history. Maybe more than Mac.
I'm sure if I wasn't a student I'd despise McArthur Court.

Gil would've been ghetto in the 80's. It's 20x worse then my high school's setup. A recruit takes 20 steps back everytime.. it is disgusting from the carpet to the paint to the decorations.. ugh. Then you see the locker rooms it's like a YMCA you're dad used to ball at.

That good, Jay John was horrible, we came to OSU with the rep as a recruiter then didnt recruit a single damn players. Not to mention the guy was a complete jerk on top of that.

Too bad OSU is a month late for jumping on Eddie Sutton looking to milk a few wins out of a bad program. He could have helped make the team respectable the rest of the way.

Uh...the fact that they are currently the worst team in the Pac-10 is the reason he's gone...duh.

As a current OSU student I wish I could feign some sort of emotional response to this, but I really don't pay attention to our basketball team.

I balled with J. John during lunches more than a few times at the rec. He did okay while I was there but he has sucked it up last couple years for sure. If you look at it though the pac 10 is really strong and OSU isn't exactly a big draw.. not like he had a ton to work with as far as facilities.

OSU has never really had state of the art basketball facilities, but they have still had a way to draw talent and build successful teams in the past. Look at some of the guys who have come out of OSU: Gary Payton, Brent Barry, AC Green...top-tier basketball talent and potential HOF candidates. They didn't come because of the facilities, they came because OSU had a great program in the late 80s to early 90s. If we can get a top-quality coach to rebuild the program, players will return. It just takes a commitment to support the program (ie, pay what it takes to get the right guy).

the beavers don't have the ability to land the top flight players yet, which is fine but the shear degree of how bad they are is just flat out sicking. The coach before him Richie McKay was able to feild team while middle to bottom of the pac-10 were atleast ok teams.

Looks like Mouton has already started making changes. First off, boot CJ Giles from the team.

That's so awesomely hardcore. Yeah, CJ Giles has the worst attitude in college basketball, but he's still the Beavs' best player by a good margin.
