Is Melo out for a few games?

Post#1 » by DaVoiceMaster » Tue Jan 22, 2008 7:04 am

I guess Melo went out of the game tonight due to a sprained ankle. How many games does a player typically miss due to such an injury? This is a great opportunity for Portland to put a little distance between themselves and Denver. I'm sure he'll return February 4th, just in time to play the Blazers.

I don't know--I kind of picture "Travis Out-There Land" as being a lot like the insights we get into Homer Simpson's brain when Marge is lecturing him. Something like this:

The ankle twist did not look good, but do not think he will be out for an extended stay. Think we beat the Nugs no matter in a few weeks.

from the video it looked to be a fairly harsh spain. When a player is driving and steps on a foot most times its not that bad, but when a player like in Mello's case comes down from jumping those can be nasty. I did the in a rec ball game in college and was on crutches for over 2+ weeks (of course I dont have the medical professions working on me either)

I feel your pain. Sprains can actually be worse then breaks sometimes. A sprained ankle is basically what ended Terrell Brandon's career in terms of being an all-star level player.

I sprained my ankle in a pick-up game out in NE against Arron Miles and like 4 of his friends from those great Jefferson teams. We were playing on a 8 foot rim and being the white boy that I am I tried to dunk with disastrous results. I threw it down just fine but landed on someones foot and really &^*%ed up my ankle.

I was able to play on it after about a month but it took at least a year to get full strength and not feel any pain on cuts. Since then my ankle has been more susceptible to sprains.

It looks like their hopeful that he'll play this weekend according to a quote from Karl on ESPN.

Thats pretty 100% on par with how my ankle went. I couldn't ball for at least a month later and it took about 6 months for it to feel normal. I really didn't give it nearly enough mind about treating it so I think it took longer to heal.
