Bulls-Blazers trade (from my understanding)
No sources, no nothing. Trade:
Ben Gordon, Chris Duhon, Tyrus Thomas
Jarrett Jack, Martell Webster, Channing Frye
Picks could be thrown in.
Blazers side:
They get Ben Gordon in a contract year. Does anyone think he wouldn't use the Western Conference playoffs as a chance as to why he should get more than 8 mill. a year? HE'S IN A CONTRACT YEAR!!! He fits in because Roy can run a little point. Gordon has always wanted a chance to run point. He'd get that opportunity in Portland, whether it be for just the rest of the season or in the next few years if he likes Portland enough to re-sign for less money.
Any Blazer fan should love Gordon because he could easily fit onto this team.
Chris Duhon's contract expires at the end of this year. He'll be gone as soon as the season ends.
The keeper is Thomas. Anyone else think he couldn't play small forward next to Aldridge and Oden? He won't ever play in the 4th quarter because of Travis Outlaw, but he'll use everything he has in those first 3 quarters. It's a two-year trial. If he doesn't fit in, they'll let him go and keep players like Outlaw. From a personal standpoint, he's worth those two years. He and Rudy Fernandez off the bench fit right in with Sergio Rodriguez. They would crush opposing benches. It wouldn't even be fair.
For Chicago:
They will choose Deng over Gordon. This is evident because Thabo Sefolosha is starting to figure the game out. (Too bad Phoenix couldn't get their hands on him.) Trading Gordon relieves them of one person they won't feel compelled to re-sign. They get a balance young nucleus in return.
Although Jack can force a lot of things, he force turnovers and force trips to the free throw line. Chicago can use his ability to grind out opposing point guards and ability to attack the hoop on offense off the bench. He won't be a third option and, when playing next to Andre Nocioni, it's okay.
Webster is a keeper in the Bulls eyes. He can be cheap to re-sign and can fill the void left when Nocioni's contract expires. He can flat out shoot and his size is hard to find. The Bulls, like the Blazers, should use his size to post-up opposing guard and shoot over them from the baseline.
Frye is a role-playing big man, but can give efficient minutes off the bench. He may not be a banger, but he's willing and starting to find his way in the post. He can poass from the high-post, which the Bulls usequite frequently with Kirk Hinrich, Sefolosha and, in this case, Jack. Frye is also a good compliment to Joakim Noah because both would benefit from going against each other in practce.
Bulls rid themslves of three guys who aren't in their future plans. They get role players who can play next to Hinrich, Deng and Noah. Blazers get a couple guys worth potentially keeping, that fit into their future and come on the cheap.
Don't be surprised if portland also includes Josh McRoberts or the rights to Joel Freeland in the deal.

I'd do this deal without even flinching.
I'm definitely not the biggest Thomas guy, but getting him along with Gordon (and a useful PG in Duhon), that's another story completely. At that point, Thomas isn't the main part of the deal, so if he doesn't work out, it's not like we get nothing.
If we could get Thomas to screw his head on straight and not be a knucklehead, he could be a nice fit at SF for us. We'd have a pretty intimidating defensive frontcourt with Thomas, Aldridge and Oden.

While I have to sort of recount when I look at averages and recall him putting up six threes in a quarter against us I don't know. I'd probably like it but I didn't even like the Z-bo trade for a few weeks..

I can understand choosing Deng over Gordon but I can't
see Portland going for this trade during the season.
We have a decent young team that is going to get a lot
better when Greg Oden and Rudi Fernandez arrive next
season. We would be moving three guys who are solid
contributors for a great shooter and two guys who
probably would not play.
I can see a deal built around Jarrett Jack and Gordon
with other guys involved but I'd rather have Deng who
would be an upgrade at SF over Webster

I think it's a reasonable trade and I'd probably do it for Gordon, but I really can't see TT ever able to play SF next to Aldridge and Oden. He just doesn't have the range. Martell, if he gets more confidence with his handles and keeps growing as a defensive player like he has this year, is almost the perfect SF to play with that group because he spreads the floor and he can even occasionally create his own shot.
The only thing TT brings to the table over Webster is that at least with him in the game you'll always know which player will be double teaming Oden, Aldridge or Roy.

I think you're under estimating what Thomas and Duhon could bring to the team. Now granted, as I've mentioned before, Thomas would definitely have to have his head on straight and be giving a full effort... But if he does that, he'd get some minutes for us. I think he could even start at SF for us.
Duhon would see the least amount of time of the 3, but I think he could get a decent 10 minutes or so of energy at PG.

I would change the title to "my guess" then.

I really don't see that being a huge problem. The team has more than enough outside shooters (even after the trade), that teams would still have problem selecting a player to double team. And at some point, I'm sure TT will develop some sort of a respectable jumpshot... Even though it will probably never be great.

Our biggest gripe this year is bad rebounding from the bench, which TT could help remedy.
Initially right after the trade, I agree. In fact, I think that could be true into next season. But after some time, assuming Thomas develops his game some more, I'd expect him to take over Jones at the starting SF.

Well first, to make it work money wise you would have to take out Duhon. I think that would work better anyways because it opens up a roster spot. I still dont think TT is going to be anything great, but he could be a nice backup (starter if he ever realizes his potential).
Bring Gordon off the bench in Jack's role, and either start Jones or Outlaw. Good balance on both units. Doubt that it goes down, but I think that if we do make a trade here before the deadline, it could definitely end up being with the Bulls. Gordon would be the only guy I see us realistically trading for before the deadline (due to his RFA)

It doesn't work under RealGM's tradechecker. If these were the principles of the deal, a re-signed PJ Brown and Darius Miles co9uld be involved. If I remember correctly, Miles' contract is picked up by an insurance policy, thus becomming annulled and whoever has Miles, in this case Chicago, would benefit and gain a decent amount of cap space. If these two teams are indeed rumored to be involved in trade talks, this is a deal I could easily see happening.
But from everything I've read around the net, the principle player is Gordon.

Spykes, just to clarify things, it this a potential trade you heard about or were you just thinking about potential deals?
The Blazers should take this deal and run if it's offered. While Martell is good and Frye has shown promise, you can't pass up on the option to have a Gordon-Roy backcourt and with Gordon on our team, I think we could really outplay the Nuggets and the Jazz this season (not to mention really solidify our success in the west for years to come).
