I think the coaches have more appreciation for how hard it is for Roy to come out for a 7th game in 12 nights than the fans do.

14, 7, and 6 isn't that bad.
Frankly, Roy's been playing 37 minutes a game...I'd rather he was resting over the all-star break then traveling to NO and doing all that PR stuff.

He's going no matter what--he's in the rookies/2nd years game.

Good point. It may be slightly less rigorous though, as the rookie/sophomore game gets less attention. But I definitely think that he wont be an all-star this year. too many other good players. Even though he didnt do terrible tonight, he needed a boost to get him over the top, not a mediocore performance to maintain his place

I doubt 1 game is going to changes his chances of getting into the game one way or another. Players have bad games. Even All Stars.

I like it when Roy has 14 points, 7 assists, and iirc 6 rebounds, and its declared a bad game. Wow has his expectations sure shot through the roof, now admittedly I didn't watch the game but that is again close to a triple double, even if his points are a bit lower then average. I am fine with Roy not being on the all star team, that would far exceed what I ever expected out of him this year. Just being considered is where I thought he should be, and hes already a real candidate, so thats a step or two beyond where my expectations were entering into this season.

Imagine if Roy made one more shot and the ref called a foul they missed tonight.
He'd be 18/7/6 and be shooting a higher percentage. I'm with Voodoo. If his bad games are 14/7/6, I'll take 'em.

I didn't think about it that much, but has anyone ever played in both the Main Event and the Rook/Soph?
I hope that the coaches don't pull some lame BS and vote in someone like Baron Davis because Brandon is already going to get to "participate" in All Star Weekend.
I for one won't be that worked up if he doesn't go. I secretly feel like that will provide some motivation through the rest of the season. He is not the kind of player to shine in an All Star Game atmosphere anyway.

I am sure LeBron played in the All Star game in his sophomore season, although I am not so sure he played the Rook/Sophmore game that season.

All I know is that's extemely rare that a first or second year player makes the ASG. Paul didn't make it his first 2 years, Deron didn't make it after his stellar sophomore season when the Jazz took off, and I'm sure there are many more examples. Roy will have a decent shot at the game for a second year player, but realistically, his chances are slim.

Listening to the talking heads, it is very "in" to be talking about Roy's value that doesn't show up on the stat line. That being said, I don't believe Roy can make the team if McGrady makes it, there are just too many top guards in the west

That was true before tonight. The only way to change that is for him to average 25ppg next season, since it's a lock that Roy isn't a top four guard in the West this season from an all-star perspective.

TMac will be voted in, but he'll very likely sit out the game because of "injury".

Agreed I don't this 'bad' game affected whether or not he will make the all star team. It's really sinking in that roy wont make the all-star team cause d-will didnt make it as a soph even though he broke/same with his team and the same thing happened to melo who didnt make it iirc till his 3rd or 4th year. Also I know that lebron played in the rooks/soph game because I remember Melo won the mvp of that game and I thought it'd be funny if lebron wasnt mvp of the rooks/soph game but was of the asg, needless to say it didnt happen that year.

Take it for what it's worth, but apparently Iverson overtook McGrady for the starting spot...

If true, it gives Roy a much better shot for sure.
