OT: Feature on thugs on the UW football in 2000

I came across this amazing feature on some of the amazing mis-deeds and down right criminal acts of Husky players. The story on Jeremy Stevens (ex Seahawk TE) is amazing.

These guys make Sheed, Bonzi and Damon look like choirboys.

At first I thought "Why do I care about this and why is it on the Blazer board?" But man, that is seriously awful. Jerramy Stevens needs to be locked up. That's so much worse than the "Jailblazers."

Stevens is pretty bad, but it's not like he's the worst of the bunch.

Of course, this just reminds you how sorry college sports really are. Take Oregon's basketball team: five graduated seniors, but I'll bet Malik Hairston never attended class more than once a month. Same with quite a few of the football players; I can't believe Marvin Johnson is still allowed to play on the Oregon football team. Dennis Dixon took three and a half years to get a degree most students could get in two and a half. Jeremiah Johnson is addicted to weed. Kevin Garrett and Derrick Jones are now documented dumbasses. Onterrio Smith was probably so hopped up he didn't know he was at Autzen on game days. Oregon gave Richie Incognito a chance...and he blew it within a couple of weeks.

There are success stories. I just got finished reading about Anthony Kelley...that was incredible. If you get SI, remember that story about Myron Rolle over at Free Shoes University? Jon Teague, a UO reserve offensive lineman, is in the Honors Business School. Adrian Stelly was a janitor who became a walk-on, and he's now chillin' with Aaron Brooks and the Rockets. OSU players have probably done stuff too. (Kidding...I know Simonton was pretty good about hitting the books.)

It's depressing though.

Depressing mostly for how unsurprising it is.

Felony assault. Rape. Felony hit and run. He should have been in jail, but instead he got to pretend to go to university and play on their "amateur" football team. It's a totally **** up system, I agree, but what Stevens did is much worse than some basketball players not going to class.
