As much as he talks about not wanting to break up the locker room chemistry, I believe KP is always looking for a way to improve this team and get his type of players.

With that said, would he (and you) do this? I would in a nanosecond!

Why?

Clears up roster spots, and give us the perfect bench combo guard energy type player in Nate, and the ideal fit for out team in Lee. Jones comes home and has an expiring contract. And Steph gets bought out.

Would Isiah do it? Would KP? Would you?

I wouldn't do that deal.

care to elaborate as to why? Financial? Talent? Character? Roster balance?

Take out the 08 first or at least lotto protect it. Nate Rob is a selfish player with a thug type attitude.

Sorry, wasn't in a position to elaborate earlier, but I'm free now to explain...

Quite frankly, I feel the Blazers are simply overpaying here. This is how I break it down in terms of talent for talent...

Travis for Lee
Jack for Robinson
Miles and Raef for Marbury

That leaves Joel Freeland, our first rounder from the 08 draft and a 2nd rounder for Fred Jones.

Adding all those picks is really where you lose me with this deal. While I'm not a fan of moving Travis, Lee is pretty comparable in terms of talent and value around the league. I personally wouldn't make that deal, but I believe it is very fair.

I also feel that Robinson and Jack are similar in that respect. But while Robinson is a solid player, I don't really think he'd be a great fit with this team, so I'm not really that interested in getting him in the first place.

^For Portland:

Nate's scoring and improved court vision as a point gaurd compliment Roy. he is a guy who can get out on the break and transform the Blazers into a solid fast breaking team. He na dRoy have played together since AAU and at Washington. They have the chemistry.

Fred Jones was a casualty in the trade. He won't play too often for the Blazers and is cheap as well as a fan favorite.

The obvious piece is David Lee. He is a tough rebounder on both ends of the floor and is the best trailing big man on the break in the NBA. He compliments Oden and Przybilla to a T and Aldridge once he fills out. Knicks would be able to get young as well as obtain some very needed picks. Knicks have tons of cap space and won't have to worry about Marbury ever putting on a Blazer uni.

They get to sell high on both Jack and Outlaw. Freeland would never touch the court for the Knicks.

But this deal wouldn't go down. I'd do it, but isiah is too much of a woman on her period when it comes to talking trade and not doing anything about it.

I'd also like to point out that I'm pretty sure Jones can be traded back to Portland for a full year from when he was originally trade from Portland. Meaning we can't get him back until this summer.

That trade is way too big. A better idea is trading our two very high 2nd round picks fot a mid 20's pick and then offer the Knicks...

Another point I'd like to make is that I don't think it's obvious that Pritchard is looking for a deal. I think it's obvious that teams are calling Pritchard and inquiring about our players and that KP is at least listening to what they have to say.

David Lee is exactly what we need on this team. He is the perfect backup for Aldridge... if we were able to get him, we wouldn't just have a formidable front line...we'd have a top 3 front court in the league. Plus we'd clear up the clog in the backcourt. Take out their pick and add Taurean Green from our side to make it a little more fair.

I hear you on Lee. He would be a great asset in the frontcourt.

But looking at your roster how will we be able to give minutes to 12 players who deserve time on the court.
We need to find trades that will get us down to a solid 10 man rotation next year.

I think we need to start trading quantity for quality.

I agree. But it's so hard to decide where to start when we have so many talented guys who are important to the team. Who do you get rid of? I look at it as, yes Jones and Frye could be getting solid minutes, but they can be equally as valuable as assets on the bench who are put it for particular game plans and are also injury insurance. I mean, I wouldn't trade Webster or Outlaw at this point, and Roy and Fernandez aren't going anywhere. So that leaves us with Jack and Jones left and a huge clog, so we should send out Jack. Frye could be traded but his offense is valuable too, and what would we trade him for? We'd have to package him with someone else... if we can get someone like Lee that would need without trading him, mine as well keep him.

I think KP is looking around but he's looking for guys who are
clearly better than the guys we have now. We could do something
like the Kiki Vandeweghe deal from the mid 80's in that we could
move 3-4 guys to get one really good player. The proposed deal
does not make it much better so I would say a loud no to the
Knick deal.

Spykes....could not have been said better. The phone is ringing because:

1.) It is getting near the trade dealine.

2.) Portland has more young, talented players on rookie contracts than anyone else in the league.

3.) Portland has multiple draft picks and players overseas to replenish anything traded out...other GM's know that.

4.) The Blazers record has increased the value of the players so they are more attractive to other teams.

Kevin would be daft not to listen. However, there is a plan and he's not going to do a lot of tinkering unless it fits well within that plan and will improve the roster over time. As we have all reiterated, at some point there will have to be moves...as soon as this summer just to create roster spots for Rudy and possible the 1st round pick if they keep it.

Style wise, it seems unlikely there will be a trade at the deadline and even less likely that someone like Travis is involved. Oden, Roy and LMA are untouchables with Travis and Sergio not far behind. The average age there is about 22.....frightening if you are an opposing team.

I do believe there was/is talks between Portland,
Dallas & NJ however I find it very hard to believe
that Outlaw was/is involved. Pritchard may say
things to mask what hes really thinking but I
dont take him for one who lies. Pritchard has
always stated that Outlaw & Sergio are in the
long term plans of the Blazers. Does that mean
he wont ever trade them?? No. It just means that
if a trade involving Outlaw or Sergio would have
to be a VERY good one & Harris is close to that
but I dont think its close enough to be that.. .

I like lee but wouldn't deal Outlaw for lee, even if it does mean getting rid of Miles's contract. Outlaw is the perfect player for this team's second unit and is great in clutch situations, which in invaluable.

I definitely agree that KP is looking to trade. He doesn't want to lower the value of our players but I'm betting that he's very active in trade talks right no as all GM's may be.

I'm sure Outlaw's name has come up in trade discussions, but I'm positive Pritchard wasn't the one to throw Travis' name out there. It was other teams inquiring about him.

I'm still not really sold on Sergio personally. If there was a deal for Harris and Sergio took the place of Outlaw in the deal, I'd do it without hesitation.

Ya, I can't imagine the Nuggets considering that. Big reason being that Camby could singlehandedly make us a playoff contender and would very likely make us better than the Nuggets. Don't think they'd want to be in a rush to help a quickly rising division rival.

If I had to put money on it, I'll bet Camby/Najera go to NJ for Jason Kidd.
