Roy may not play against Detroit

he's in seattle right now:
Whether Roy will be able to bail out Portland in the near future is in question, however. Roy did not accompany the team this morning on its flight to Detroit for the start of a four-game trip leading into the All-Star break. He headed to Seattle late Wednesday because of a family emergency. Roy said he was unsure how long he would stay in Seattle and plans to notify McMillan by tonight of his status for Friday's game against the Pistons.

if he doesnt play, might as well hand the Pistons a win.
what would our lineup be?
Blake
Jack
Webster
LA
Joel
our bench would be weak as hell.
we might see a darius/McRoberts sighting

well, too bad for Roy, i hope it's nothing too serious.
for the blazers, it could be a game to see how the team plays and reacts without roy.
it would also help to see more time of mcroberts and maybe even green.

Might be best for Roy to sit. If ESPN is correct
about theres going to be no trades involving the
Blazers then that means no playoffs this season.. .
Might aswell get Roy 100% & play him only around
30mins a game, that will keep wear and tear down a
little so hes ready to rock and roll next season.. .

I don't think there would be a plan to limit Brandon's minutes. Not that it's a horrible idea, but I just don't see it happening. That's one word shy of saying let's start tanking, and I don't want to be the first team to have a 13 win streak NOT to make the playoffs.
It can be done.

if Roy is out I really hope they feature martell in the offense. Run him off screens repeatedly and make him the goto scorer. He seems to excel when he gets going with short/midrange shots instead of corner camping. We beat Utah in Utah without Roy if I remember right by doing much the same thing.

^That's an interesting point about Martell and the Utah game, but who was guarding Martel when he went off in the 3Q? In this game he'd be matched up against Prince who can run with him and do a good job of limiting his effectiveness.

I seem to recall Kirklenko guarding him at least part of the time.

In the Utah game, they started out with Kirilenko guarding him, then switched to Brewer for a little bit. Harpring guarded him for a chunk of the game, too.
If Webster doesn't get 35 minutes, I'll be dissapointed. This is where Sergio will get minutes, too. I'd love to see the Blazers cut McThroberts or Green and sign Tarence Kinsey for depth purposes, but I know it won't happen.

I didnt mean tanking, I just ment if it doesnt
look like the Blazers can make the playoffs
then Roy or any Blazer shouldnt be played
a ton of mins if they have a history of getting
small injuries.. .No use going all-out when
theres nothing at the end of the rainbow.

Where is your faith everyone? Last time Roy wasn't able to play part of the game vs utah, the team really stepped up and Martell had a 24 pt 3rd quarter. Roy sitting out would be a letdown, but I believe that other players can step up and at least make the game competitive (EVEN IN DETROIT). Roy is the star but there are still a lot of scoring threats on this team and Detroit would be hard pressed to stop them all.

If I remember correctly, Kirilenko was out of the lineup the game Martell went crazy on him. He definitely wasnt guarding Martell.
