What would you Trade Memphis/Minn/Seat/MIA for ROSE

The Draft comes and Derrick Rose is available what would you be willing to trade to get Rose.. A now first class organization like yourself would be smart to acquire the point guard of the future in the nba. I think you will get a top 20 pick.. but would clearly have to make it worth a team's while..

If you kept Rose/Roy/Aldridge/Oden you would have the best defending in the team and one of the best of all time in its prime.. Rose is a stud defensively and so is Roy/Oden

As long as he seems to continue to look good I would trade anyone not part of the big 3 as part of a package. How many of those guys? I don't know. I'm guessing though that no one will want to trade a top 3 pick for some bench guys and a pick or two.

I agree with Billy...none of those teams will trade a top 3 pick for what portland would be willing to offer.

Portland essentially has had the 3rd pick in 2005, the 2nd and 6th in 2006, and the 1st in 2007. Getting into the top 3 for 4 consecutive years is expecting too much and teams would make the blazers pay a real steep price.

Anything outside of Roy, Oden, and Aldridge. Absolutely anything...

As much as I'd LOVE to see Rose in the Rose Garden I seriously doubt it will happen...

As much as I'd like to deal something outside of the big three for rose, I doubt that it happens. LA-Roy-and Oden are not open to discussion but IF the team with the #1 pick would be open for such a trade, I'd trade ANYONE outside of the top 3.

like everyone else said, anybody not in the big 3, all of our picks and cash.

The more relevant question is who would we trade for Bayless/Gordon/Mayo? our own 1st rounder, Jack naturally (as they'll take over his role if not more), two of our 2nd rounders...and Frye as well? sounds like overpaying, but I really think we wont need Frye so much next season.

And which top lottery team would preffer such a package?

assuming portland has the 13th pick, a package of that pick and some combination of jack-frye-mcroberts-freeland-kaponen isn't going to move them up higher then the 8th or 9th position...at best. Adding one of jones or webster may move them a notch ot two higher.

If KP is really determined to move up, a combination of the above along with lafrentz's expiring may do it, but probably only if portland was willing to take on an albatross contract in exchange for lafrentz.

for instance, portland 13 and charlotte 7. would portland offer the 13th pick, a 2nd round pick, frye, jack, mcroberts, and the rights to kaponen for adam morrison and othella harrington? that may be too much to give up to climb 6 positions in the draft. Would Charlotte accept? Could the blazers squeeze matt caroll out of the bobcats if they offered jones?

Milwaukee was 8th. portland offers 13th pick, lafrentz, frye, jack, mcroberts for bobby simmons, gadzuric and the 8th pick?

of course, there's always the knicks. Say they have bad lottery luck and end up 5th or 6th. The possibilities are numerous because they have a passel of bad contracts and Lafrentz's expiring would have some appeal there.

Good point. I was beginning to think that expiring contracts were losing value in the NBA until I saw the Gasol deal and definitely think the Blazers can get some good value for Lafrentz next season, and quite possibly THIS season. As you said, the Blazers may have to take on a bad contract in return but it's definitely something to think about.

I'm willing to bet Paul Allen would be willing to take back the worst contract in the league if it meant we got Rose.

Teams that might be willing to trade the rights for Rose:

Memphis - they're targeting Beasly, and have Conley, Crittenton and Lowry at PG. They'll have a use for Frye, but not so much for Jack. And even if their pick falls out of the top-5 which is highly unlikely, and we land a 10-12 pick which is also unlikely, I'm not sure if Frye and 2nd rounders would be enough. Maybe if we'll add Raef and take Cardinal.

Clippers - if Livingston comes back this season and shows he's well recovered, they might preffer a combo guard rather than a natural PG such as Rose. But Mayo, Gordon and Bayless fit the bill better than Jack. Frye could be useful for them as a backup PF/C.

Teams who might trade the rights to one of this draft's combo guards:

Milwaukee - not much need for Frye, Jack maybe...would want us to take Gadzuric off their hands.

Kings - could use Jack as backup PG, wont pick way above us so that could be enough.

And the Clippers which I mentioned, and think they're the most likely trading partners.

I don't think any of the teams that are projecting to be in the top slots where Rose will be picked are going to trade him to us. Maybe if we gave up one of the big three, but clearly we won't do that.

If we're lucky we might be able to swing a LaFrentz for bad contract and pick swap to move up a bit, but not enough to get Rose in my mind.

Other than that we might be able to package some of our youth to move up, but then the question becomes who wants to trade with us?
the Clips depending on Livingston's rehab and Brand's contract situation.
Charlotte if they can drop to our spot and still get a good big man (their biggest need).
Milwaukee, depending on who we'll give them...
Chicago if we take on Wallace.

Those are really the only ones I see, but it's really hard to say before we see the draft order, so much hinges on who picks where and what they need. I don't see any trade for Rose going down, maybe something to the top ten.
