Any interest from Portland fans? He could be the SF you need.
17/6/3 on very good shooting %'s. A very smart, crafty player. He's from Oregon, a hometown favorite.

No. Sorry but I don't like how inconsistent he is and really think that he's benefiting from a system that favors his style of play. It's a nice idea but I don't like this deal.

No thanks. Too much money not enough production. He's proven to be incredibly fragile mentally over his career. McMillan would have him in tears by day 2.
He doesn't play much defense which hurts him in Portland's system. He also is as streaky as they come. Watching him the few games a year I get a chance I see the gamut. Sometimes he'll hit 7 shots in a row, other times he'll miss everything. If Portland was going to get a vet, they'd need a lot more consistency than Dunleavy would bring.

I think you're both thinking of the Golden State Dunleavy. The Dunleavy who was betrayed by the fans and misused for years. The new Dunleavy isn't overpaid, in fact, he may be slightly underpaid given his overall production. You also don't shoot 48% on the season by being inconsistent. If that's inconsistent, then what is Roy?

Like I said, I don't see many games with him playing, but I know what I have seen. You're right, I might be judging more off of Golden State than Indiana, but the fact is he doesn't fit. I can't think of anyone on Portland's roster I'd part with for Dunleavy--besides the obvious.

i would take Dunleavy over Martel Webster and Jones anyday.

Could be good for us if it wasn't for his lack of D...maybe as a 6th man, but right now I wouldn't give Przy and filler (which we dont really have) for him. I think Gallinari, who we might draft, could develop into a similar player.

I am the minority here but i like Dunleavy too. I would part with Martell, but not Jones for him. I have him on my fantasy team and see all his statlines. They are surprisingly good.

No, dunleavy is overachieving and is very inconsistent.

So now overachieving is also a bad thing?...

Pacers are stuck with Dunleavy and Murphy until their crappy contracts expire. I said the same thing to Warrior fans so I could be wrong. Good luck except when you are trying to pawn them off on Blazers.

It's not good if you are overachieving your abilities but underachieving your contract. Dunleavy should be a backup player getting maybe 20 minutes a game. He needs to be a core player to earn that massive contract.

I'd make a trade for Dunleavy Jr.....
If Darius Miles is in the deal.

I wouldn't. Miles is an expiring contract in 09/10 when we will have cap space. Miles could be a valuable trade piece while Dunleavy would be a useless salary burden.

I've made that point a few times.
Yes, dumping Miles would really maximize cap space. But if portland makes some tough choices they could have substantial cap space anyway.
And if we've seen anything this season as far as trades go, it's that in the age of the salary cap and luxury tax, possessing expiring contracts give a team a lot of leverage.
Personally, i don't think much of the cap space plan, so I'd like KP to work lafrentz's expiring this summer and next season tilll the trade deadline, and then Miles's expiring a year later.

Miles' contract expires 1 year after we're supposed to have our cap space. By the time Miles' expires, we will have already used our cap space (either signing someone via FA in the summer of 09 or trading Raef LaFrentz's expiring contract) and will have moved onto resigning our own players (Roy and Aldridge will be up for extensions by then). On top of that, Dunleavy's contract only runs 1 year longer than Miles.
I didn't say I'd give up much beyond Miles for Dunleavy. I don't think he's a particularly great fit and he is vastly overpaid.

Miles's contract will not expire before we have cap space but it will expire the year we have cap space. That gives us a lot of flexibility in trades or sign and trades. Blazers can reach agreement with a FA, instead of signing him work out a sign and trade, and still have money to sign another FA. Miles's contract could be very useful whereas Dunleavy's contract will have 2 years for over $20 million left. And, there is no upside to Dunleavy. I like the SF's we have better than him.

It depends on who the Blazers would have to give up.
One thing about Dunleavy is that he can create his
own shot which is something the Blazers need badly!!
However im not sure Dunleavy is worth it because
of his contract. I think in order for the Blazers to
get Dunleavy they would end up limiting some of
their options in 2009 which is kind of a deal breaker.
I think the only way Pritchard is going to mess up
that plan is if it was for a player that is to good to
pass up. Dunleavy has gotten a lot better since his
Warrior days but Im not sure its enough to mess
up the Blazers plan for 2009.. .I like Dunleavy tho.
