The trade looks like this..

Mike Bibby

for

Lorenzen Wright, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, and Sheldon Williams.

Going through the other teams forums, it looks like its all but a done deal and awaiting league approval. Just another crazy trade in this crazy season

I still can't believe Sheldon was taken #5 overall.

Solid trade for the Hawks. Bibby isn't anywhere near the player he used to be, but he's still solid and should help them quite a bit.

For the Kings... We'll, they get to dump some salary. Sheldon has been a complete bust in the NBA thus far, but maybe the chance of scenery and some extra playing time will do him some good.

I'm honestly to that surprised they got so little for Bibby. If I was Pietre, I would have hung onto him and seen kind of return he'd bring as a expiring contract next season, but the Maloofs probably didn't want to pay the luxury tax, which if I'm not mistaken, they would have been had they kept Bibby into next season.

side note : I spy a fantasy steal ,pick up Beno.

well, it seems the kings only have artest to start a full rebuilding plan.

with this the hawks really turn their nutch up, with bibby a more experienced playmaker the young hawks could use his IQ to have a strong 2nd half of the season.

I'll be interested in seeing what the do with Artest. They might be better off just keeping him and letting him expire this summer.

Besides, they won't get much for Artest anyway. Any team that trades for him knows that he's just a half-year rental. Throw that ontop of the fact that he's a nut-job, and that won't make for great offers in the Trade Market.

I can understand adding a few of those names... but let's not be completely absurd. Going into that draft no one outside of Isiah Thomas had even considered drafting Renaldo Balkman before the 2nd round... Yeah it turned out all right but there's a reason literally everyone went "HUH!?!?!" when Balkman's name was called on draft night at #23 or whatever...

I'd go beyond that but it's pretty pointless... I'd say half of the names on your list there have no business being there based upon the fact that coming out Shelden had the look of at the very least a decent banging role player in the L... maybe not a top 5 pick, but certainly enough to be a late lotto/teens pick without question. While a few of those guys have turned in better careers to date and were picked later than him, it doesn't mean they were better prospects coming out of college(or wherever). The only ones I think you could make a decent case for being rated higher by most people going into that draft were Roy, Gay, Foye, and then you have to start actively making cases for why the player might be a better prospect than Williams.

Again, not saying he shoulda been 5, but he definately deserved to be drafted ahead of ALOT of the guys on that list given what we'd seen of them so far... to say otherwise is pretty much revisionist history imo.

Don't take it too serious SS, I'm just screwin' around. I know about half those names are debatable.

Next to Darius Miles, Kenny Thomas is arguably the 2nd worst contract in the NBA right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they're stuck with him until he is an expiring or his contract ends.

Hm this is an interesting deal. I don't think the expirings do much other than get them out of paying lux tax with Bibby, but I suppose when your team is constantly underachieving and you have a player making that much money you probably would consider moving him just to get out of the lux tax.

This does bring into question...where are the Kings headed? They have a lot of bad and relatively long contracts if they are thinking about rebuilding, but does anyone think they can amass enough talent to compete without rebuilding? I suppose Martin, Hawes, and a high pick could be the start of something.

Just seems almost surprising that they couldn't even pry someone like Chilldress from Atlanta.

yeah, i meant that, lol, just that didn't write it completely... that they just need to get rid of artest, but i think he isn't a good player to trade unless you want bad contracts or garbage.

and yes i agree, they got nothing valuable from atlanta that could help the kings have a brighter future.

That's a good question. A lot of the Kings fans believe that they're going to be players in the 09 FA market... Personally, I don't buy it.

Really really great move for the Hawks. Welcome to the playoffs boys!!!

When I first heard the Hawks made a trade, I was skeptical. Honestly, I want the Hawks to suck so that their ownership is forced to sell the team. What's happened to them is no different from Clay Bennett in Seattle or Donald Sterling.

That being said, it's hard to find anything WRONG with this trade. I was told they gave up a second-rounder, which leaves them without a pick in the draft this year, but that's not really a terrible thing.

That having been said, I STILL don't think the Hawks make the playoffs, even with a burst of energy. I'm still of the opinion that the team is too dysfunctional to come together for a playoff run, and while Mike Bibby certainly helps I don't know that I like their chances.

The Kings did an obvious salary dump, which is acceptable if disappointing.

Kenny Thomas' contract is arguably the worst in the NBA, even worse than that of Jerome James. How a 6-7 PF with no discernable skills other than physicality landed that contract defies explanation.

I think this is a decent trade. ATL gets a PG and Sac gets expirings and cap space and Shelden Williams. What's not to love? I, for one, believe Shelden can play in this league and the Kings need an enforcer down low. In a starting role, the landlord should be able to drop 13 pts 11 rbs and 2 blks per.
