Sign and trade for Gordon in the summer?

With Hughes and Thabo at SG, I really doubt Chicago will be keeping Gordon for the long run.
Dont know if Philly or Memphis would sign him to an offer sheet...if they do, the Bulls wont match it. So they need to explore sign and trade options if they want to get something for him.

Naturally, we can offer Raef's expiring contract...and either Jack or Sergio and our 2009 1st round pick? or maybe the rights to the guy we'll draft...

That would make Gordon's salary a bit heavy...what do you think?

Yeah, they will have a helluva time trading Hughes so they are likely stuck with hin for 2 years after this. I simply cannot see them keeping Gordon paying him big bucks. so yes a sign and trade with Gordo this summer seems very likely.

I have yet to hear any real rumblings about Portland actually being even slightly interested in Gordon. As fans, most of us think he's a great fit, but I can't think of a single report or rumor that has had Gordon linked to Portland.

So I'm beginning to wonder if Gordon is even on KP's radar or not...

Anyway, I do hope that Pritchard can pull off a S&T for Gordon this summer. It definitely looks like the Bulls are ready to move him. They have Sepholosha who's been solid for them and now they'll have a ton of cash locked up in Hughes. I can't imagine they'd want to spend 10+ mil a year on Gordon now...

I like to think that KP can keep some of his possible future moves to himself...did we know Rudy was on his radar before the draft? I dont recall so.

I'm also wondering how good a fit Gordon would be. His ability to defend PG's is the biggest question mark IMO. I like the fact that he's both young and seen a lot of playoff action ever since joining the league.

True, that very well could be. He's not real talkative when it comes to players he's eying, so you could be right. I'm just saying that it also could be possible that KP isn't interested in him. I hope he is, but who knows?

Even if he wasn't interested up untill now, he should consider Gordon heading into the summer. Guess it would depened first on what we do in the draft.

I think it's a lot more likely that Pritchard packages Outlaw and or Jack with our pick to move up and get Eric Gordon, Bayless or May. Any would be a nice fit and being on rookie contracts would be cheap. All would have a chance to grow with the team.

Come on. Wer'e owned by Allen, and about to shed major salary with Francis and Raef contracts coming off the books next summer. This is not the time to give cheap rookie contracts any consideration.

We have plenty of young talent that needs to grow with the team. We could use more a fairly young Gordon who's got more college, NBA and playoff experience, and let him grow older with the team.

Now, maybe those combo guards would turn out better than Gordon. But if it means giving away Outlaw, I'd rather draft someone else and then move him, and/or Jack, and/or a future pick, along with Raef for Gordon.

If it's only Jack we'll be trading to move up...that's a different story, I'll even throw in all 3 of our 2nd round picks.

I think that today makes the Bulls less likely to S&T Gordon to Portland. Like Spykes said, I'm not sure that Portland is interested, however, if the Bulls are stuck with Hughes and intend to play him, that lessens the value of guys like Webster and Outlaw.

At PG, the Bulls are set with Hinrich and perhaps a re-signed Duhon. No way the Bulls take on a ton of salary (which they would have to do for a sign and trade) for a back up point guard like Sergio or Jack.

That's not entirely true. The worst contract the Bulls would have to take is Raef LaFrentz, and by that time, he'll be a 13 mil expiring contract.

How much dough would a player like Gordon demand next season? I don't think he's worth 13 mil.

No way is he worth 13. The Bulls would gladly let him walk if some team was dumb enough to offer him that. I think around 10 is probably his max.

Paxson offered him 5 years 50 million in the offseason. Now that the dust is settling on the Wallace trade the Bulls seem to have pretty much the same amount of money committed the next two season.

My guess is if he's willing to take 10 mil per year then he will be resigned. If he takes the QO then he wants significantly more.

If he was seriously offered that and turned it down, he's a fool. He won't get anything significantly higher on the FA market. There simply isn't that sort of demand for a undersized SG.

Regardless of what the Blazers think of Gordon, who would they offer to the Bulls as a trade?

The Bulls might not be totally content with the the talent that they have now, but I don't know if I'd be willing to give up anybody they'd want for a mini-chucker like Gordon...

He was definitely offered that. It was widely reported in the Chicago media that Paxson offered this to him. Gordon was turned off because Paxson gave it to him a take it or leave it and didn't want to negotiate. I think Paxson will be making a similar offer this summer when Gordon realizes there isn't much of a market for him.

10 million per year is on the high end of what I would pay for him and I think it's on the very low end of what he wants to be paid.

As far as what could Portland offer for the Bulls for him, personally I would do a deal that nets us some young talent and lets us be a player in the 2010 free agent market. I'd do a similar deal for Hinrich too.

The Bulls were reportedly really close to sending Gordon to the Hornets for Rasual Butler, a 1st and some other scrubs. So I'd say that they are definitely exploring trade options for Gordon right now and I don't think it would take a ton to get him.

Spykes, maybe your right. Maybe I should say this another way: I am not sure if I love Ben Gordon on the Blazers.

Here's a quote from one of the Bulls fans, in a thread about Gordon:

DuckIII wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

I gotta tell ya, Ben. I don't know why anyone is holding out hope that Gordon can play point guard. I, too, wanted to see how the Kirk/Thabo/Ben rotation would work, but in my mind it would have always had either Thabo or Kirk running the point.

Gordon has shown absolutely no ability whatsoever to play point guard. He can't break a trap. He picks up his dribble to quickly. His handle is sketchy. He can't split defenders. And he doesn't create. He's a pure shooting guard through and through.

I realize that Roy would primarily be handling the ball, but I'd really like to see a PG who can play good defense and makes the defense respect his dribble penetration. Granted, perimeter shooting will always be at a premium, especially with Oden here next year, but one-dimensional players make life pretty easy on the defense.

I'd really like to see a PG who can break the defender down, and when the interior defenders collapse, he dishes underneath to Oden or LMA for easy baskets.

I just don't think Gordon is that guy.

I see where you're coming from Butter. It brings me back to my first post in this thread, asking if Gordon is even on KP's radar right now?

KP will want someone next to Roy who has at least decent handles, court vision and defense. If Gordon is as poor at those thing as that poster says, then he might not be a great fit next to Roy.
