That sucks... Could this possibly affect us? If they tank really bad then we may still have a shot at the playoffs.
This is kind of annoying though. I'd rather know that we have no shot at the playoffs, but this just opens the door a bit. We'll see if they actually lose w/o him. They may have enough momentum because of their streak to keep going, but Yao was probably a big part of that streak.

Wow. I feel bad for Yao, he's always having injury problems with the leg/feet.

I think where this really stings for the Rockets is losing Bonzi. As much of a tool that he is, he sure could board. He'd have helped them a lot more IMO than Bobby Jackson would at this point.
Luckily for the Rockets is that Adelman really is a more uptempo coach. Scola could be moved to C with Deke having to play more minutes than the Rockets had hoped. The addition of Green could prove to be big as the Rockets may be able to use another quasi-versatile player in a small ball lineup.
That said, the Rockets roster is pretty thin on big's. Outside of Scola, Deke and Hayes they don't have many bangers. Kind of feels like Portland... only with more bangers.

Carl Landry has been stepping up for them. I'd love to see Justin Williams in a Rockets jersey right now. Shoot, I'd love to see him back in the NBA. He could help a team.

I don't see this helping the Blazers. Blazers aren't getting into the playoffs.

+1
They are 16 games over .500 and the Blazers are two.
I would be happy if the Blazers just finish at .500.

Wow, Yao's had a history of being injury prone. I still see the Blazers as not making it to the playoffs since T-Mac can carry a team, but it definitely increases their chancs (but GS will make it before the blazers will).

Agreed. The Rockets have too big of a lead on Portland for us to seriously have a chance to catch up. Unless they also lose TMac for the season, they'll likely hobble into the playoffs.
Seriously though, you gotta feel bad for Yao. Dude just can't stay healthy.

Depending what you're looking at. There are probably 10-11 teams in the west that deserve to make the playoffs and the Blazers have had a very nice season thus far, but the way they've played lately, they haven't earned the playoffs. The sad thing is, we'd probably be considered a potential top 4 team in the east.
