OT New 1080 lineup

Post#1 » by Effigy » Sat Mar 1, 2008 3:16 am

Jim Rome is gone, but now we get Dan Patrick. I'm happy about it. Although I think I like Rome better than Turico, but I think ESPN makes us take Turico if we want Colin. And Colin is obviously hugely popular here.

Herd has turned into such Boston/New York homer, it's hard to stomach sometimes. I'm not really going to miss Rome though...never really got into his show that much. Patrick was always a good show and I never liked that it was delayed.

I don't understand the whole Dan Patrick deal. He left ESPN. Has he signed on with another syndicate?

I'm glad Rome is gone. I can't stand that guy.

You know who I miss? Ferrell. That guy amused me all to hell. He was more insightful than Rome could ever hope to be. And as opposed to Rome that has a pack of sheep that follow him around telling him he's funny, Ferrell actually is funny.

So...what? Are they no longer an ESPN radio affiliate?
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

QFT. There are times when Rome is funny, but those are usually few and far between.

THANK YOU BABY JEBUS!!! Rome was the clone. He never said anything original. His whole show was just a rip from e-mails. Rome was only funny when someone fed him a line.

Yes. He's been on the air for a little while now. My buddy down in California told me last month that he listens to him and I was very jealous. Reggie still comes on every week but he doesn't know about Olberman. Hopefully Keith still comes on and it's just after my friend can listen to the show (he's at work, after all)

As for Rome, yes he's gotten worse, especially lately. I really dislike the current 'make fun of bums' trend that goes on on his show. 'War one bum using another bum for a bed'? What? That's not funny and it's not tasteful. Rome said he was going to stop reading bum emails and phone calls but he's still doing it.

Once Chad Doing stoppped calling and emailing it was all over for Rome.

I was driving home from LA about a month ago and stumbled upon Patrick. I forgot how much I missed the guy.

Dan Patrick is an ****.

I like Rome. His show is so formulaic, yet frequently funny. The utter absurdity of it all is, to me, a close mirror of Internet message board culture. He seems to just want everybody to have a good time. Oh, and he wants to lick Roy's nuts.

Colin Cowherd needs to get his face kicked.

You know who I miss? Ferrell. That guy amused me all to hell. He was more insightful than Rome could ever hope to be. And as opposed to Rome that has a pack of sheep that follow him around telling him he's funny, Ferrell actually is funny.

He was cool years and years ago, but his show devolved into an endless series of callers asking him to pour them a cold one and him doing his "you're the man" routine.

I agree with the change, Patrick is a far better sportcaster and romes program has just gotten stale.

Tirico?, I like him on tv fine and have nothing really against him, but the radio show just hasn't hooked me

Rome was the definition of a fair weather Laker fan. He'd even go as far as to openly admit it. When the Lakers sucked, he'd make fun of them relentlessly and talk about how big of a joke they were. Then the season starts, they end up playing better than expected, then the make the Gasol trade and he's their biggest fan.

Yeah, he always says he doesn't root for anyone but he's so obviously lying.

Cowherd and Patrick back-to-back is just way more smugness than I can handle.

I don't get it, what are you guys talking about? Rome does the best interviews in all of sports radio. He's funnier than anyone else in the business. Sure the emails can be sophomoric and crude at times but its all in good fun. I personally am upset at the changes. Mike Terico is decent but Dan Patrick is awful. The guy is so boring, he's opie on air. That stupid bell they ring every time some loser calls in and gives there height weight, STUPID. I for one will find a free Rome link over the net & will stop listening to the fan. Rome was the best show on that station. Even the local guys blow.

cheers  I really couldn't stand Rome. I would listen to just about every other sports talk show host an change it when Rome came on. I actually enjoyed his show when he wasn't on it and he had a guess host.

Dont have anything on Dan, haven't heard him on radio but enjoyed him on SC.

BMoney: I agree with you only on the point of the local guys. They are awful. Disagree on the rest.

Agreed on all counts. The local guys are intolerable jerks.
