Nah.. I like Lee, but to give up our first for a backup big man is a little less than what I was hoping for this draft day. I would much rather package it with someone else and move up a couple spots, or just take my chances on a future PG. If Westbrook and Lawson (if they decide to enter) are somehow already gone, then yeah I might do it, but I think it would be worst case scenerio

I'd have to say no, but it would also depend on where we were picking...

I'd seriously consider this.

I bet a lot of teams would do this. It's probably less attractive to the Bazers than wit would be to a team that's weaker at PF, like Philidelphia or Sacramento.

For a lottery pick? David Lee? I wouldn't.

My presumed priority order of possible choices Blazers could make with pick:

1. Pick a PG.
2. Package the pick in a deal for a PG.
3. Shore up the front line. Lee is good, but he'd be only a back up here. We can do a lot better with a lottery pick.

I like Lee.. .buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.. .

If the Blazers cant move up & get top #5 then
trade for a proven NBA talent, better then Lee.

Absolutely. I'm suprised other Blazer fans are hesitant or would refuse to pull the trigger on this, I absolutely would.

Look, do you really want to wait for another PG to develop? I certainly don't, now I can understand the package the pick with some players for a better player perspective, but to keep the pick is something I just don't see the Blazers doing.

Lee would be perfect on this team to backup Aldridge...we're talking about possibly the most formidable front line in the league for YEARS.

Oden/Pryzbila

Those 5 guys give you everything you could want out of both of those positions, you could literally do whatever you want on any given night.

The Blazers still have many other ways to landing a PG or a SF, Webster, Jack, future picks, cap space, LaFrentz's contract.

I do this deal in a minute.

I would do it in a heartbeat. Lee is EXACTLY the kind of guy you need in a strong bench unit. The guy would, along with Oden, turn our rebounding woes into pretty much the opposite. Obviously I am a big Lee fan.

The question is Lee or Westbrook/Collison?

EDIT: How off topic is this? Seems pretty much right on the subject of blazers to me...

I don't think anybody wants to wait for another pg to develop, but trading a lotto pick for Lee certainly doesn't address the need at pg, which in my eyes, is clearly our weakest position. Rebounding is of course a concern but as Aldridge develops his strength and Oden comes in, we should have 3 solid if not spectacular rebounders in Oden, Joel and LMA. I like Lee's game and he would certainly be a luxury off the bench, but he simply does not do anything to fix our most pressing need. If im trading/packaging the pick, its for a solid young pg who is both semi-proven and has a decent amount of upside. If thats not available, I take the best pg or combo guard I can get in the draft and hope he pans out.

I want a major contributor with that pick. Lee is a good backup, but he's nowhere near a "final piece".

I have heard this a lot. I would, more than anything, like to get a young pg with upside to fill out our PG position for the next 5-10 years. What I haven't heard is any realistic suggestions.

TJ Ford is young and potential (with a lot of Risk). Kirk Hinrich? I proposed getting him and there were mixed reactions. Jose Calderon won't happen.

On the draft end, we may very well end up getting a guy who's plays jacks type of combo guard role, which really doesn't help us. GRRRR.

^^^as I have said before, I would be willing to gamble on Ford as long as the price wasn't too high. the question is, is Toronto nervous enough about something happening to him to let him go for relatively cheap or would they just hold on to him thinking that there is no way they get a fair return? They already have Calderon doing an excellent job for them so they might let him go for a solid backup pg (in the Steve Blake mold perhaps?) and a 1st and.or a few 2nds (which we really do not need at all at this point).

I agree with your first point, but with the take the best PG available as plan B statement, I disagree. Because you see if we don't fix our PG problem this off-season then we have mega cap room and options in 09. I'd rather take Lee now, and see what we can do with Martell and Jarrett, say get a Mike Miller.... then deal with the PG issue (which I agree, DEFINATELY is an issue) in 09.

Devin Harris or Hinrich would be perfect imo. We need a PG who can really defend.

I'd probably give this a good amount of thought before ultimately passing. So much can happen on draft day that we could end up with someone who ends up being a far superior player to Lee. On the other hand, we might not.

I'd pass. The Blazers are already loaded with talent in our frontcourt and while Lee would provide a nice bench punch, I'd prefer for the Blazers to get a banger PF in the second round and draft a PG (or possibly trade the first round pick for a young PG). The starting PG is a much more important position to fill than backup bigman so I respectfully say no in hopes that Pritchard will finally get us our starting PG.

I guess I messed up on my plan b statement. I sat there and played with the espn lotto simulator too long and got to thing about strictly drafting a pg. I should have said I would just take the BPA instead of Lee if a deal for a solid young pg couldnt be done. Guys like Darrel Aurthur IMO would be a better gamble than Lee. Basically I'm saying I think we can do better than Lee with our pick. LOL
