I know it is a bit too early to look at the offseason, but I am really starting to look forward to it.
Here is my idal offseason:
Draft
#12) Nicolas Batum - Blazers don't need to be younger. Batum is a good pick for my plan incase he needs to stay overseas...
3 second round picks - all international players
Free Agency
1) Sign Jose Calderon (Toronto) to the full MLE.
2) Sign Rudy Fernandez
3) Miles retirement (or cut McRobberts)
Trade
#1) Reaf, Frye, Rodriguez, Batum to Indiana for Murphy, Foster, Granger
Indiana is looking to shed salary. This eliminates the small chance Portland had for cap space for the '09 season by taking on Murphy's contract. Granger will be up for a big $ extension. This allows Indiana to re-build.
Roster:
C: Oden, Pryzbilla, Murphy
PF: Aldridge, Outlaw, Foster
SF: Granger, Webster, Jones, Miles/McRoberts
SG: Roy, Fernandez,
PG: Calderon, Blake, Jack
Thoughts?

Calderon for the MLE? Dude....
Far too unrealistic. Toronto wont let Calderon leave for the MLE, it would certainly be matched.
Also, we give up very little in terms of talent and land Granger? Indiana would laugh at that offer. Granger is there 'Roy', he is literally the only bright spot on that disaster they call a team.

calderon could sign for the MLE with about 25 teams in the league, it's doubtful he'd pick portland and it's absolutely certain Toronto would match it.
that could very well change the draft choice to a PG
Indiana would certainly send murphy to portland, but just as certainly won't be sending Granger and almost certainly not send foster.
And finally, why do people imagine depth charts with 1st or 2nd string players 3 and 4 deep?
Oden, Pryzbilla, and foster at C with Aldridge, Outlaw and murphy at PF.
and of course granger, webster, outlaw and jones manning the SF position.
If you figure that Oden, aldridge and granger average 32 minutes each, that would leave a grand total of 48 minutes to divide amongst those other 7 players....less then 7 minutes each. Might be some dissension there...especially by Paul Allen as he foots a 160 million payroll

I'm not in favor of Calderon. As of matter of fact, I don't think he'll fill the holes we have in PG position.
You may have noticed or not, we get killed by quicker opposing guards night in and night out. Nevermind Chris Pauls and Tony Parkers of the league.
I'm talking Nate Robinson, Earl Watson, Tyron Lue, etc. They all seem to have career nights against us.
None of our PGs can't keep up with them. They cause so much havoc, which leads to foul trouble of our big mens, open 3 pointers due to penetration, and defensive rebounding holes because our bigs have to leave their position to cotest the shot.
Calderon, without a doubt would be an upgrade, but I don't know if he'll give us much more than what Blake gives us already.
In fact, I believe Calderon is just more efficient Steve Blake.
That's why I'm in favor of getting quick guards such as Devin Harris, who is known for his defense.
Thus, I'm not in favor of trading for Ben Gordon or Kirk Hinrich in the off season as well.
We won't go far in the playoffs if we continue to allow opposing PGs to kill us day after day, especially when West is loaded with talented PGs.
