Question about Rudy

I saw the picture of Rudy recently in the Oregonian. I don't care what people say Rudy weighs 160 pounds. I would like to know how many successful NBA players have a similar body type. He is the skinniest player I've seen since Craig Neal.
I'm not saying Rudy can't play in the NBA. I haven't seen him play so I couldn't have an opinion on that. I'm just looking at his body type and am asking is that an NBA body.

Rip Hamilton and Kevin Martin are two that come to mind. And I have seen quite a few comparisons of him to Kevin martin.

Ya, he has alot of Rip to his game.
I think he could come over right now and get 10ppg in 20-22 minutes. The defense is where he will need to work, and work hard, to become more than just a offensive spark.

Kevin Martin, Rip Hamilton, and Tayshaun Prince are skinny but Rudy looks even skinnier. If Rudy comes to the Blazers next season, he will be the skinniest player in the NBA. It

Kirilenko looks even skinnier than Rudy and that's not a big trouble to him.
The biggest fault on Rudy IMO is his ball handling, mainly with his left hand.

He didn't look that small in any video I saw of him. Pass.

Keep in mind that playing next to Roy, Rudy will mostly guard PG's, so other then guarding Rose, Baron, Deron, Billups and Miller - he'll be OK.

The PG position is the 1st or 2nd most important defensive position on the court. The PG is the guy we rely on to put pressure on the ball, to stop penetration, limit opposing PG's from getting the ball to their favorite spots, and limit the time they get to setup offense. Blazers need a better defender at the PG position than Blake and Jack. Is Rudy that guy who is going to be our defensive stud? Does he even play defense in Spain?

From what I've seen, the biggest knock on Rudy defensively is that he isn't considered strong enough to play against NBA SGs. That shouldn't be nearly as much of a concern playing against NBA PGs. In general, he is a good on-the-ball defender who gets a good number of steals, and he also plays the passing lanes well. He isn't a Manu G. type defender yet, but he certainly has the potential to get there if he can take on some additional bulk.
Get him over here and let him weight train with Oden

That would be funny to see. Oden could use Rudy as a curl bar.

That video of Oden where he says he does the 100lb dumbells in his sleep comes to mind...

I agree with you in regards to defending the PG position, especially in the west. That's why I'm in favour of trading for Hinrich. I think Rudy should come off the bench for the offensive spark, like the Spurs use Manu most of the time.
