NBA.com poll...

There's a poll on NBA.com right now that asks: "Who is the sophomore of the year?"
The candidates are:
Aldridge
Gay
Roy
Rondo
I, of course, voted for Roy, and to my surprise, the leading candidate right now is Aldridge with 50% of the votes! (Although Roy is 2nd with 33%)
I just can't believe that people think LA is better than Roy, I mean he's been really good this year, but he hasn't had nearly the impact Roy has had, imo.
Anyways, don't forget to go vote

Nice to have our guys getting recognized. Why is Rondo on the list though?

I thought all this Rondo love was a little over the top, but really the only question mark with him has been scoring and he's been fine in that regard this season.
I wasn't a believer either, but watch him, he's pretty good.

I guess most voters took LMA's improvement into account, like it's "Who's the MIS?"

I doubt people think LA is better than Roy. But many people probably compare each players stats from last season VS. this seasons. In that case then Aldridge appears to have improved the most. I voted for Roy as well. It is obvious that he is the most impactful Sophomore, but Aldridge's stats are way up over last seasons. That is most likely where the confusion comes from. Or the fact people are just voting based on Aldridge's last three games.

More than anything, I'm shocked at how low Rudy Gay is. There's quite a few odd things with that poll...
For one, Roy should definitely be #1. He was an All Star in his sophomore year, there's not much more you can ask out of a 2nd year player.
Second, Rudy Gay really shouldn't be #4 with the stats he's be able to put up. There's the tried and true "good stats on a bad team" excuse, but he doesn't put up empty stats like some players do on bad teams. He's gonna be a great player for years to come. He's probably got so few votes simply because there are so few Grizzlies fans.
Third, Rondo realistically should be 4th on the list. Don't get me wrong, he's been very good. As a matter of fact, I think the percentage he's getting in the vote is fair. You certainly can't attribute all of his progress to the Big 3. However, Gay should probably be ahead of him.
Finally, Aldridge seems oddly high on this list. He's been really good for us, but #1 by a decent sized margin? I donno about that...

i just need to hope my roommate doesnt see that poll. We often get into heated debates over who the best Blazer is. I always advocate for Roy and he chooses Aldridge. Lately he has been giving a little ground, but if he sees that and decides there is new evidence....

Couldn't resist.
Can't wait to see what their board thinks of these results now.

Maybe voters placed LA as first b/c of his improvements. Roy is definitely the sophmore of the year in terms of what he's accomplished this season but strictly from an improvement standpoint, LA definitely wins.

I have to disagree. If it's a improvement standpoint, Gay has Aldridge beat.

I was mainly pointing out improvement in terms of statistics but I'd definitely agree that Gay has improved more in terms of talent.
