Hello blazzers fan...
I am watching the more i can that boy and reading the spanish media, i found an interview in wich he said he is very scared to go trough the same things that sergio rodriguez is already having.
"im afraid Mcmillan make the same things with me", talking about sergio.
do u think he has space in portland roster for the next year? how many minutes u think he can play (knowing the fact, ROY is already there)?
thoughts?

Is it possible you can link to the interview?
If it's true, then all the more reason to dump Jack this off season. I would keep Sergio around for an easier transition for Rudy & I like Sergio's game a lot more than Jack's. :|

Jumping to the NBA will be a big step for him. He'll need some confidence in his own abilities. Maybe he's not ready.
I'm kind of surprised he'd use Sergio as a benchmark of his own playing time. The Spanish National coach last summer gave Sergio about as inconsistent playing time as Nate has and Rudy was there to see it.
I'm certain that both the Portland GM and Nate McMillan will sit down and have a conversation or two with Rudy early this summer. Maybe that will ease some of his anxiety.

Rudy and Sergio are different players. He would have to prove himself of course, but he is much more developed than Sergio.

bobobolas....great find.
For me Sergio is a benchmark and I amazed that the coach is not giving him confidence. Frankly, I am afraid that McMillan do the same with me.
I don't know that he is scared. He sees that PG is Portland's weakest postition and the guy who was top 3 in the NBA (per 48) last season and still team leader by far per 48 mins in assists this year rarely breaks seven minutes. On the other hand, other players are allowed to go through terrible stretches of play and still maintain their minutes while shooting poorly and making incredulous decisions.
I'm not saying Sergio is the answer, but we know Jack and to a lesser extent Black are not either. It would be nice to see what Sergio could do given the same opportunities.
Rudy is an intelligent, very instincive player that would be taking a big paycut to come play with the best players in the NBA. After watching Nate, his coaching tendencies and sub patterns, is it any wonder he has questions about giving up money and minutes to sit Jack or another player like him that Nate deems to keep throwing out there night after night?

Great!...I can see now that this could become another venue for the usual suspects to engage in some nate-bashing
a 22 year old spanish kid may have some trepidation about taking a 3 million a year pay cut to go to opposite side of the earth, to a different culture where he doesn't speak the language, and possibly fail at the same thing he's having incredible success at in his own country.
and if he decides to not come over, it's Nate's fault....sheeeesh

He's probably right to be concerned about this, but I hope it doesn't prevent him from coming over.

Thats such a BS cop out... Sergio averaged 7mpg and played the least minutes out of anybody on the Spanish national team. Hes actually averaging MORE minutes over here than he was there.. That argument is pathetic. If thats your reasoning, then stay over there

Since the press of Portland publishes that in two weeks Kevin Pritchard will go to Barcelona to see you and test what you want to do...
Ah, yes? It was not known it, they have not said anything to me. Good, if it comes already you know that I will be very nice with him (he laughs), but I will not be able to say to him right now if the year that comes I will play in the NBA. That one is true. It is a difficult decision and I have to think it
I'd imagine if this is True, KP & staff will come with a shoe contract, a guarantee of minutes, and expect a commitment before they leave.

Dude, he never said he wasn't coming over. I think its a legit reason for concern. Think about it, he'd take a pay cut and be in a country for 6-8 months out of the year, where his language isn't the primary language spoken.
Would you take a pay cut in your current job to move to spain ?

I didnt say anything about him taking a pay cut. Thats a legit reason.. Not wanting to come over because of whats going on with Sergio is garbage.. I said if THAT is his reason, then its BS

if they come with a shoe contract, they would violate NBA rules and the blazers would be sanctioned heavily, including the suspension of KP, and the likely loss of draft picks plus the loss of rights to fernandez.
if they come with a guarantee of minutes, KP should be fired anyway.

True, i guess i didn't think about that. Well maybe they could talk about something like that, but not with something in writing? Is that legal ? Regarding the minute thing, guarantee is a bad word, what i meant is reassure his role in Portland regarding minutes.

I really don't think that's the true reason, Rudy has played with the national he's gotta know that Sergio isn't the player that Caldy and JCN is. If he doesn't see that, than he is blind and stupid.
He's probably making excuses because he doesn't want to sound like he's all about money.

The comparision with Sergio is just because his natural position is SG and Roy is obviously the starter in the Blazers. If McMillan uses him as the SG backup his minutes will be very limited, it doesn't matter his talent, Roy always will be the starter. If they guarantee him minutes he will be a Blazers next year.
