CBS just replayed the National Championship game between Florida and Ohio State. Rewatching that now that Oden calls Portland home was a real treat. Below are plays he was involved in over the course of the game and a little observation.

Gave up layin
Fouled...1-2 FT's
Personal foul to stock the clock....his 4th
Dunk at end of game as Florida was protecting the 3-pt line

Finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds from what I could tell. Got a little tired in stretches and Richard bullied him out of position down low a couple of times for rebounds. He should have had at least one more foul call on him where he went for a pump fake and literally landed on the guy after he had passed the ball.

Great elevation on put backs. His dunk on the pick-n-roll was from the bottom of the circle and was a monster throw down. He has a decent drop step and uses his size to get under people and then power up through them on his drop step.

Passes fairly well although once he starts his move, he tends not to give it up no matter how many people come at him....although he hasn't needed to so far. Doesn't rotate real well out of the pick-n-roll on defense and Horford unded up with a number of open 15-17 foot jump shots.

Oden was credited with 4 blocks (I counted 5) but he altered at least that many more or just completely stopped people from even looking to take shots in the lane....that is where I noticed him being most effective but I can also see him getting in foul trouble as he tend to go for a lot of shot fakes.

G. Oden, C
38 min
10-15 FG
5-8 FT
4 OffReb
12 Ttl Reb
1 Asst
4 fouls
25 points

Not bad considering he drew 15 fouls on Florida big men.

I just can't wait until next season...

Awesome. I was watching that game, too. Oden getting double teamed will do wonders for the other blazers.

Much like Daniel "Boobie" Gibson did with LMA at Texas, there were times in that game that Conley did not pass to Oden when he had his man pinned or had very deep post position.

Roy and Jones/Webster are going to love this guy because you can't leave him. Brandon should be able to go to the whole at will because if the big man leaves G.O....Boooom Shaka-laka!!!

And since you have to protect the paint and can't leave Oden or Aldridge, that should mean even better shots for the outside shooters. I think KP is right, they need another attacker...someone who can handle and create and this will be a dangerous squad.

The first thing I think of when I watch Oden is all of the times I've seen good passes bounce off of pryzbilla's hand 3 feet from the basket. Joel has been great this year, but having a big man with good hands would have dramatically changed portland this year. Oden should do that. And having joel patch the gaping rebounding hole on the 2nd unit will be great as well.

Wizenheimer...that is a great point and a huge benefit for when Greg is not on the court.

And there it is, I'm all super psyched again. Probably won't sleep well tonight. Thoughts of Oden Jump hooks and put backs dancing through my head.
