Good news about Rudy
Hoopshype says that he has rejected his first offer from a European team. CSKA Moscow offered Rudy a 13 million dollar contract, which he rejected.

Spykes...that is good news, thanks for posting.
Trade Machine....GREAT find. Nice touch with KP's intro. You've got to love when he's running up the court and runs through the opposing coach.
The more I see of him, the more I like his playmaking ability. Some of those passes are sick! I'm a little concerned about him getting of that step back mini-jumper he uses for most of his outside shots. I'm not sure he gets that shot here but he most definately has a flare for the game and very good instincts.

Ok, my Spanish isn't as good as I thought it was. I just re-read through google translate, and found that the contract he declined was offered last summer. They also seem to be listing KP's words from Courtside. hehehe...

If these contract offers we hear about are true, I don't believe Rudy is coming to the NBA. It sounds like he is being offered more money to play elsewhere than the top draft picks get here. In the NBA, the CBA is designed so that teams pay the majority of their money to proven veterans. In the old days, the NBA paid unproven rookies big money but the CBA prevents that now.
Another obstacle related to finances is the value of the dollar. Currently the dollar is losing value and that will have great effect on the value of Blazers offer to Rudy.
The problem here is the Blazers can't pay Rudy until he is a proven NBA commodity. So, to become a proven NBA commodity Rudy has to play through a rookie contract for substantially less money than he can make in Europe. If Rudy comes to the NBA and flops, he will never get big money in the NBA and the big Euro offers he is supposedly getting now will more than likely dry up somewhat as well. For Rudy the NBA represents a huge risk and the reward for that risk is realistically non-existent. If Rudy is as good a player as Brandon Roy he can make more money in the NBA, but realistically the best he can hope for is that someday he can get an offer in excess of the MLE. It doesn't sound like the NBA is a good option for Rudy.

I completely agree. He would be a fool to turn down 20 or 30 million. It would take a decade to make up the difference in the NBA. And if he had a career ending injury, he would only get a tiny fraction.

I'm really hoping Rudy comes. He's been a very interesting prospect ever since I read about him 3 years ago.
I hope he comes to the NBA and we don't have a situation where he makes his money over seas and then decides to tackle the NBA later in his career. But I can't say I'd blame him with the money and fame he'd have to walk away from.
Really hope KP reels this guy in. He'd be a huge get.

^Because it's the NBA. He'd be going against the best in the world. Money is a great motivator for many, but he's already proven he can dominate the international stage. Next up is the best in the world, albeit on a smaller paycheck than what he could get from other teams in Europe. The game is completely different. It's a challenge and any athelete loves a challenge.
