Roy was not in the locker room after the game, but according to team doctors, the injury "didn't look good," right after the game. Groin injuries are difficult to get over, and even though it's just speculation at this point, I would guess he'll miss some significant time. I hope I'm wrong, and we'll know more on Wednesday, but Roy probably won't make the trip to Golden State Wednesday afternoon.

Sounds to me like Roy is done for the season. No real reason to push him for the last 10 games of the year anyway. Would have been nice to end with a winning record this season, but without Roy, that'll be tough. Anyhow, lets hope the Blazers shut him down for the rest of the year.

well, i agree. the blazers are not in a desperate need of roy for the rest of the season, so if he sits it won't bother me.

and i'm not concerned that both aldridge and roy might not play for the rest of the season. this will give certain players more time to show what they are capable of.

I agree to shut him down, there really isn't much left to play for. Or like Barrett said he could be wrong, and Roy might be back in a few games.

I think you gotta shut him down. At this point, the most important thing for Roy is getting ready for the summer where he can work on his game. The most important thing for Portland is taking a closer look at Outlaw, Webster, Sergio and even Wafer to see who they want to keep and possibly boost values of some guys.

I agree with what's been said (except by Yadadimean...!)...there's no point for Roy to return until he's 100% healthy and it's unlikely that a serious groin injury will heal before the end of the season.

This is the perfect chance to play webster at SG and Outlaw at SF. It's important to determine how versatile those 2 player's games actually are. I'd like to see how Martell does with more ball-handling duties and if travis rebounds and defends well from the SF position.

Sergio should get more mintues as well, however, if jack can play like he did last night, keep giving him time as it could may very well drive up his trade value. I'm not a jack-hater, but it's easy to read the writing on the wall.

It would be interesting to see Frye get some extended minutes at PF, but i don't think roy's absence will achieve that.

If Jack, Webster and Outlaw can keep having games like last night's we should have sat Roy down weeks ago. If we can trade two of those guys for a good point guard I may well crap myself.

Actually, it may have worked out better for the blazer's in the long run. As others have said, now we get to showcase some players who are in the running to be moved. Also, I don't really see the harm in possibly dropping a spot or two in the draft while said players are being competitive.

It's really going to be interesting to see how Martell responds to a more active role.

If he doesn't do so hot at first, will he be able to keep his head on straight?!

This is exactly my thought process as well. Shut down Roy and use the final 10 games as a "final cuts" like a HS basketball team. Obviously they probably have nailed down who they like and who they don't, but whats the worst thing that'll happen? I guess their could effect someones trade value, good or bad.

zzaj, I think the Blazers are pretty much a lock for the 13th pick unless Sacramento can win 7 of their last 12 (not likely the way they've been playing lately). Also, I don't think it's worth rooting to lose even if the Blazers could move up 1 spot. Moving from 13 to 12 won't do much.
I agree that Roy should take as much time as is necessary for him to recover. We'll need him next season more than we do now.

man, i hate the fact roy is going to miss more time...first the heal, then the ankle/knee, and now the groin..i really hope Roy is not turning out to be injury prone

I was at the game so I didn't get all the replays and angles you guys at home did. What exactly happened on that play when Roy got hurt? It looked like he didn't touch the guy but then the other gun was frustrated so he threw him down, sort of.

Yeah, looking at it a little closer I think you're right O2. It's pretty doubtful that Sac wins that many games with their schedule. And just for the record, I am not rooting for the Blazer's to lose...if they can go undefeated without Roy or Aldridge, awesome! I just think realistically they won't win as many of these last games with the big 2 out of the lineup, which isn't so bad given the circumstances.

I hope we're able to secure a .500 record before Roy is able to come back. I'd be nice if he could just heal up for the rest of the year and on into the offseason. We're at 38 wins right now and need 41 to make sure we'll be at or above .500. I know the rest of our schedule is pretty brutal, but I think 3 more wins in manageable. Here's a list of our final games...

Bobcats and Grizzlies are must wins, and I think we have to win against Sacramento as well. We owe them one since they've beat us 2 times in a row this year. The rest of the games are gonna be tough. We do play the Lakers shockingly well when they're in the Rose Garden, so we could have a chance in that game.

As for the rest of the games... It's gonna be really really tough.

it's not a very friendly schedule, but i think the blazers can manage to make it to 41 wins.

like spykes says bobcats and grizz at home have to be wins. the other winnable game is vs. the kings.

but, maybe the blazers can upset again the mavs or even the lakers since both are at home.

The one thing that bothers me the most was how Roy got injured. I think it was Caron Butler going up for that last second shot and Caron looked liked he did a Kobe Bryant on Roy.

Purposely flinging his left hand out on top of Roy. Seriously if you get a chance to watch a replay of that shot you will see Butler go into a spastic flairing of his arm to connect with Roy.

Even Roy gave him a dirty look after he was laying on the ground....

I also agree, let him sit out the rest of the season and heal up. I would rather have him rested and improve himself during the summer.

Besides we need Roy healthy as he is standing their at the podium to accept a top three pick in the lottery...

I really like that Roy appreciates what a winning record would mean. I hope he shuts it down if there is any chance of lingering effects. I could definitely see us winning 4 games over the rest of the season. Maybe 2 we're expected to win and 2 upsets.

Normally I would say we should win 4 of the remaining games and finish with a 42-40 record. Since we may have to finish the year without 1 or 2 of our best 2 players, who knows what's going to happen. Maybe we can still win 3 or 4 without Roy.

We are going to go 6-4 the rest of the way and end up with my predicted 44 wins for a back to back championship for me! We will beat the Charlotte, Sacramento, Memphis, LA, Dallas, and Golden State. We'll lose to PHX, Houston, SA, and LA.
