Digging up the past
With the season coming to an end and the draft on the horizon, I began to hearken back to the days of old. Back when we had a midget street baller at PG who was "the future of the franchise"... a crippled shot blocker who seemed to care more about his energy drink than actually playing basketball... another midget SG who was the more heralded but less effective member of a national champion Terps squad... two screw ups who had by far the most talent on the team while simultaneously having the least amount of maturity...
Wow, we've come a long way since 2006.
While I was thinking about the "good 'ol days", I decided to check some old posts and came across a rather ironic one that involves no less than 4 players who are now (or will be very soon) contributing members of the team who were not yet with us. I found it to be an entertaining read and thought some of you "old timers" might get a kick out of it too.

LOL.

He obviously didn't realize it. If he had, he would have stopped after the numerous warnings and suspensions he received about his conduct and he's still be here today.

You know what's spectacular? I'm reading looking through that thread again and not a single one of those posts came up with a draft day scenario that was better than what really happened.
I love Kevin Pritchard. If they day before the draft someone would have posted the scenario that actually happened we would all say they were crazy.
1. Trade Telfair to Boston for #7
2. Trade #4 and Kryapa to Chicago for #2 and draft Aldridge
3. Take Randy Foye at #7
4. Trade Randy Foye to Minnesota for Brandon Roy, who they took at #6
5. Buy Pheonix's #27 and draft Sergio Rodriguez
I would have said "There's no way the other team does that" to everything that happened.

Yeah, I would've said you have to be absolutely joking me. I remember that draft thread.. constantly like WHAT??? NIICEE.. WHAT?? NICE..
BTW, Spykes after rereading that thread I think you are just a tad happy he is waived. :lmao: "You've said some very "un-mod like" things to me in the past, and the fair way to handle it is for you to step aside and hand it off to someone else."
I don't even understand how far that guy stuck his head up his own ass. He was like the RealGM unibomber.

I'm more than a "tad happy" he is gone.

He was a tough guy to get because he was always tip toeing the rules here. He'd rarely ever go off and overtly overboard (although he did do it enough to get banned), but he was always incredibly disrespectful and argumentative, to even the most minor things. I'd send him warning and PM's to chill out, and he'd always take offense to them (hence his "un-mod like" comment).
Oh well, I'm just glad he's long gone and were able to laugh about some of his ridiculous antics now. I'm gonna dig through my PM box and see if I have any funny messages from him.
Saleen/brianfast on the other hand, he's just straight up tell people to f*** off or use some other sort of profanity, then he'd PM an apology to me, as if that made it ok.

I didn't see it that way, I thought Dewald was the only one that could hold his own against that lun, swede wrote:I think someone is still a little tender from getting reamed by PDX Blazer 24/7 aren't we dewald?.. *checks thread*Is Roy REALLY the most NBA-ready player? He was underrated at UW but is now being seriously overrated.
Yes sir.
Compared to PDX, you're smellng like a rose. Seriously--has anyone ever had the proverbial Bugs Bunny "1-2-3 strikes! You're out!" moment like this one since????
Martell Webster is a great SG prospect. Martell Webster is NOT a great SF prospect. Only screw-ups attempt to fix something that isn't broken.
Fact.
Jarrett Jack is a better PG prospect and a better SG prospect than Roy, and he's proven that with an excellent production at BOTH positions all year.
Fact.
Brandon Roy IS NOT one of the Top Five rated player in the draft. Brandon Roy would be the 3rd best SG prospect on the Blazers roster if the Blazers drafted him.
Fact.

Tons of funny stuff in that post and I seem to recall reading it cause of the 2nd trade of theo for eddie jones and trying pj for miles. Glad I didnt post or just barely didnt have my account back than and just read. Btw tho who didn't like jack as a rookie? I was all over him, like all rookies, but he was producing to some degree and was healthy for all 82 games, he was the warrior fromg g-tech. Agreed though, get him outta here heh.

I thought he was, at best, an instant offense option off the bench. Is that considered not liking him or liking him?

I have to say I wrapped up that thread quite insightfully.
edit: Not to pile more on PDX but its amusing that the corner stone to his argument was Joel not resigning with the blazer. He even mentions the possibility of getting Oden due to horrible blazer bigs with Joel clearly leaving. Nice that we have both guys on the roster now.
