Typical 30 point in 30 minute performance. Maybe he should always have Paul Allen in attendance? Hey! I think I know of a way that would make that possible

Nice. Hopefully this helped make Rudy feel a little more comfortable about coming over to the states next season.

Only a middle aged man with glasses who looks like he's about to have a panic attack courtside could inspire Rudy to such lofty heights.
He needs to start rocking the beard again

This is very encouraging news.
I just realized that his sis plays for the LA Sparks - Marta Fernandez.
That's has to also play into his desire to come over or not.

I like that the Blazers are aggressively pursuing Rudy. We can't offer him a lot of money but maybe we can win him over with other benefits. Maybe a shoe company is interested in signing Rudy to a shoe contract. Carmelo recently got a $60 million deal so maybe Rudy is worth $20 million because of his international appeal.

Things have definitely been looking good for our hopes of getting Rudy next season. On another note, who's to say that Paul Allen can't pay Rudy under the table? I sense a 20 MILLION EURO deal under the table.

I dont follow Euro league ball, so I gotta ask is 30 in 30 really typical of Rudy?

That's why we had a thread discussing every game Rudy played this season
The answer is: he's good,b ut he's not that good. He averages about 15 points in 21 minutes per game, along with almost 2 steals and almost 4 assists per game, not including this last one (which likely will affect some averages a little bit).

These are his numbers in ACB (spanish league)

You have to consider that he played less minutes in Uleb Cup because most of games were very easy for Joventut

nice.
and even though the coin is still in the air i strongly belief rudy will be a blazer next season.
outside of his salary, what other bonuses or stuff like that could the blazers give rudy without being illegal or crooked?

Really nothing. The CBA seems pretty airtight as far as the cap goes. Even though I'm no CBA expert, I'd suspect that the NBA would come down hard on any perceived circumvention of the salary cap (look at the T-Wolves for example).
I bet Larry Miller could call an old bud at Nike and say "hey you should check out this Rudy kid." But that would probably be it. I'd have to think even then if the NBA caught wind they would launch an investigation and probably come down on Portland anyway.

I'm sure Paul Allen's conversation with Rudy went something like this:
Paul: "Rudy, I sure hope you come over next season."
Rudy (through translator): "I would love to, Mr. Allen, but the Russians have mafia money and can pay me anything they want, while you can only pay me about a million. And that's US dollars, not real money like the Euro."
Paul: "Rudy--I know those Russians have mafia money behind them, but I'm one of the ten richest men in the world, mafia or no, and even though I can't pay you under the rules any more than what the CBA says, I'll make sure that if you make the sacrifice and come to my team that you will be well taken care of."
Rudy: "But Mr. Allen--how can I be sure?"
Paul: "Well, look how we treated Zach Randolph and Darius Miles. We gave them enormous contracts far beyond what they deserved because we believe in taking care of our players. Think those Russians will do that for you?"
Rudy (thinking): "More likely they would kidnap my sister and hold her as ransom to get their money back if I had one bad game."
Paul: "By the way--have you seen my boat? I keep it parked in Cannes most of the year, which isn't very far away. Why don't you spend a week or so on it after the season ends. I keep it staffed with women ages 18-21. Did I mention it's a 400' long boat and that it has a staff of about 100?"
Rudy: "Portland, here I come!"

As Billy said, the CBA is tight. I don't believe that Rudy can make $30 million for 3 years in Europe but let

haha nice script mojo, I like the part where rudys like they'll kidnap my sis if I have one bad game haha. Anyways good news and I think paul allens presence had a big impact. If your a player in europe whose been drafted and surprisingly the gm of the team who drafted you showed up I know I would be stoked.

ok.
but, lets pretend that rudy does comes to portland. he signs the contract and everything is fine.
can the blazers "help" him in getting lets say, a house and a car or something like that? pay the tickets for his family to visit, etc?

Well, that's what the Russian mob did to Pavel Bure's sister (reportedly), so why not add that in?

Top notch training facilities, a team airplane, and all the american tail he could wish for.

We do not need to provide extra services just to get Rudy Fernandez in the best league in the world. If he doesn't want to come, screw him.

Yeah, but with that attitude he's probably not going to come if Europe pays him 10x more money. He's going to say, "what, a 90% pay cut, screw you!"
