Travis Outlaw vs. Al Harrington

Watching the Warriors game tonight I was thinking that Harrington kind of reminded me of Travis a bit, so I pulled up the comparinson on NBA.com

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/travis_outlaw/index.html

Outlaw and Harrington are almost identical in every stat. Their size is very similar also, but Harrington is shown as 35 lbs heavier.

While its interesting, I'm wondering if Outlaw can get a similar contract to Harrington? I remember thinking that Harrington was way overpaid, but that's not how Travis's agent is going to present his contract extension proposal when it's time.

BTW, here's Harrington's final two years of his contract:

$9,226,250 (08-09), $10,026,875 (09-10)

Harrington has balls.
unfortunately, Outlaw only has one ball.

I'd give Travis 7 mil/year tops and that's if he continues to progress.

IMO They don't really play alike, one is one-dimensional as strictly iso, the other is one-dimensional as strictly not really one dimensional at all.

Again, where is the comparison here?

Are we talking about the same Travis who's offensive game includes a contested jumper or a fadeaway contested jumper with the occasional drive to the hole where he gets absolutely rimchecked everytime with the one instance where he jumps 20 feet in the air and defies the physical laws of nature.

Sure, he hits a lot of his shots, but imo, versatility isn't a measurement of hows many different ways you can take a horribly contested shot. A good shot and a made shot are two whole different things with Travis usually. I'm happy for the guy he's starting to hit them, but how long until he is targetted for all of his flaws and starts losing his mojo? I'm expecting the inconsistency to creep up on him again, prove me wrong Travis I beg of you.

I don't think Travis is as good as Al.

He's not as good as Harrington at least yet and I most definitely wouldn't pay him anything near what Al Harrington is making b/c with Roy, Oden, and LA going up for extensions about the same time Outlaw is. I don't think the cap implications such a contract would bring would be worth it. If he vastly improves and becomes less of a one-dimensional player, I'd be all for signing him but if his only improvement is scoring a couple more points while still showing some of his same insufficiencies, it might make sense to either trade Outlaw or let him walk if he demands too much money.

Well he's locked into his contract for 2 more years, so we don't have to make a decision soon. It's hard to see him being worth that money though.

Al Harrington has a ton more game time under his belt.
So when youre putting down Travis, keep that in mind.
