I see Real GM has an OKC board (which is locked) but presumably ready to be opened
up and there are other boards which are in the process of switching over.

I just hope the Blazers organization will be kind to the Seattle fans. Doing some
promotional work with Nate, Roy and Martell to promote the Blazers much like
the Sea Hawks and Mariners do in Portland just to keep the fans involved with
the NBA.

Regardless, we love anyone who wants to root for the Blazers, so welcome aboard!

Sorry to threadcrap, but I'd like to change my screen name. However, for some reason, I'm not authorized to send private messages--do you know why?

Incidentally, I moved to Seattle the day before the city had reached a settlement with the Sonics. I'm not necessarily a Sonic fan, but I hope I'm welcome aboard the bandwagon!

Yeah, there are some problems with he PM function still. If you feel comfortable putting your name change request in this thread I'll submit it.

No matter what happens with casual Sonics fans, I hope a lot of the RealGM Sonics fans come to the Blazers board. The Sonics board has been pretty sad for the last couple of years, but in its heyday it was maybe the most thoughtful team board on the site. We can always use more fans here.

Playing Portland-OKC games in Seattle so the fans could come out in droves and boo the OKC team (The Oilers???) and root for Portland would be a great move for Paul Allen in the short term. It also might help Steve Ballmer, if he's serious about getting the second Microsoft franchise into the NBA, convince the NBA that Seattle really does deserve a team.

Probably can't happen with the financials of the Key, though....

There are a lot of Seattle ties with the Blazers for it's not just Nate, Roy and
Martell but people behind the scenes.

Don't hate the players but a number of Seattle Sonic fans will now have to travel
to Portland to either cheer or jeer the OKC franchise for perhaps paying for
another arena after paying for Baseball and Football stadiums is perhaps a
bridge too far for the tax payers of Seattle.

I do think after a while the Blazers (assuming no other team moves to Seattle)
will do some promotional work in the Seattle area for the purpose of
entering the radio and TV market. I'd hate to have to think about trying to lure
another team but I do think negotiating an expansion team would be in
everyone's best interest for the new team might not be so bad if existing
teams were told they could only protect 8 players and the new team was
insured to pick no later than 4 in the draft.

Imagine a 7 games series between Portland and OKC with Oden vs Durant. Portland
could probably sell 25,000 tickets to that series with a couple of thousand
Sonics fans in attendance.

Can you change my name to earlthegoat, if it isn't already taken?

Also, the search function seems to be misbehaving.

Bleh.

Still kind of in a fog, I am sure many Sonic fans are this way, so many conflicting issues, Do we become a blazer fan, in hopes of one day, Seattle getting another team?

What happens then after I invest 3-5 years into Broy and Mac10?

Argh.

This example might not be quite right, but it's what sprung to mind.

The Sonics being stolen are a bit like being involved in a really nasty breakup with a girl that you've gone out with for years; you're heartbroken, bitter, angry and just want to punch her new boyfriend in his smirking, dirty little mouth (I'm looking at you Clay Bennett, you inbred Okie) Well the advice I always got from my friends was to go out, get drunk, and pick up as many girls and have as much meaningless sex with them as I possibly could.

Bottom line: no need to form any long term commitment or bond with the Blazers, just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. When you're ready for your next "long term relationship" (ie when the Grizzlies relocate to Seattle) just move on and there's no hard feelings.

I would welcome any Sonic fan to hop on the bandwagon! I would understand if they just can't stand to watch the NBA anymore or maybe need a break from the game for a while. But I think they get a free pass to hop on anytime!

Oh and this is my first post, woohoo!

While we're here, could I go from "haschel cedricson" to "Haschel Cedricson"?

Hey mojomarc, do you think it is okay if you can change my username as well? I feel like it's a little "homerish" and being used against me more than it should in the general boards, and frankly, I don't really like it that much anymore. It's becoming a burden.

Do you think you can change it to "310x" if it's available? Whaddya say?

Hey, mojomarc, I was wondering if you had any updates on the name change?

Thanks!

I just checked, and the commissioner said that because you have not been a member for more than a year he will not change your name. Sorry about that.

I understand that policy is policy, but I want to point out that although I've been around for three months, I've been fairly active, having posted several times more than blazersforlyfe. I would contend that they are quality posts as well. I definitely hope that the commissioner will reconsider.

Nonetheless, I am prepared to frequent this site for the next nine months and ask for another name change. Go Blazers. =)

I do think that would be nice, but don't expect any of that this season IMO. It could be interpreted pretty badly if the Blazers would just come to Seattle right after losing the team in order to pick up the remaining fans.

Regardless, I don't think there's an NBA fan (not living in OKC) that doesn't feel bad for the Seattle NBA fans for losing their team. I'm sure any fanbase would welcome the former Sonics fans that want to support another team now.
