Honestly I didn't dislike Christie, but the fact we hired a GM without a search and then hired a HC without other interviews just speaks to the state of this franchise.

The Kings will never be good with Vivek. It doesn't matter what any reports or GM says, he is controlling the strings top to bottom. Very very sad to see.

I would have been completely fine with Doug back as HC if the plan was to rebuild and let him grow with a young roster. With the goal of winning and being competitive, I just feel like this puts unfair expectations on him unless we significantly improve the roster. As is, this just feels like setting him up for failure.

How are we planning to significantly improve the roster?

Keon/Carter
Lavine/Monk
DeRozan
Keegan/Jones
Sabonis/JV

This roster is so far away it's sad. We are missing a #1 option, #2 option (fine call this LaVine), a starting point guard, a starting PF, defensive pieces.

Spurs are going to take a massive leap barring Wemby's health.
Portland will likely take another leap forward next year.
Pelicans if healthy are better or on par with us.

It doesn't look like any of the 8 teams above us are tearing it down any time soon.

We are about to watch them shuffle a few minor pieces and pretend it's all good to go. A whole off-season with dougie and everything would have been different!

I really hope Monk, Sabonis, DeRozan are out and the rebuild is incoming. You are right, I'd love to see Doug with guys like Keon, Keegan, Jones, Carter, and young hungry talent building the right way.

Haven't chimed in for awhile, great move. There was no reason to not bring him back.

Wow!

You guys just can’t find anything positive in anything can you?

Continuity is the single most underrated thing in professional sports - especially the coaching.

Ask the Spurs.

And we actually have little to no idea what the specific plan is at this point. How about a wait and see what actually happens and be happy there is an adult in the room that understands the value of keeping your cards close to the vest.

I'm happy for Doug and want to see him succeed. I absolutely believe in his ability as a coach and agree that continuity is important, I just hope the expectations for him are appropriate, whatever route it is that we decide to take and would have been happier to let him grow as a head coach with a young team. The locker room seems to be behind him as well so I don't have any doubt the team won't play hard for him.

I see Christie lasting one season. This team will be in the lottery for years. Worse runs organization other than Philly.

Doesn't really matter who the coach is with the roster we have established. Good for Christie getting the gig though no process by Perry whatsoever in taking the interim tag off but what's it matter with this team anyways. Christie is probably one of the cheapest coaches so Vivek can save some money there but in the West we aren't a country mile away from having a competent roster to compete for anything.

Vivek still a problem, and has no business with this level of involvement

You go after Jenkins/JVG etc before entertaining this break glass

I like Doug but I don't think we need another "ra-ra" coach for this group of guys.

Possibly adding Mike Woodson, Bobby Jackson and Darius Songaila to Doug’s staff.

Bobby Jackson's relationship with this organization is like the Michael Scott "snip-snap" meme.

Also, Darius Songaila is a name I haven't heard in a while but always liked him as a player!
